Shura refers GCC Anti-commercial Fraud Law to State Council

MUSCAT: Majlis Ash’shura held its 12th ordinary session of the second annual sitting (2019-2020) of the ninth term (2019-2023), under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Majlis Ash’shura Chairman, in the presence of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Majlis Ash’shura.
Majlis Ash’shura referred the draft unified GCC Anti-Commercial Fraud Law to the State Council without changes.
Ahmed bin Said al Sharqi, head and rapporteur of the Economic and Financial Committee read out the committee’s report about the law. He noted that the draft law stems its importance from fighting commercial fraud and its multiple and developed methods, in addition to the importance of protecting consumers’ health. He noted that the law, once passed, will support the work and remit of the Consumer Protection Authority.
