SLA calls for UFPLS to be axed By Jean-Baptiste Andrieux 14 Standard Life Aberdeen has called on uncrystallised funds pension lump sums (UFPLS) to be scrapped. It made the call in its submission to the work and pensions select committee inquiry into the pension freedoms. SLA wants the government to limit the range of products available for pensions, as it confuses customers. SLA head of platform proposition Alastair Black believes it is essential for customers to understand their needs. With annuities guaranteeing incomes for life and drawdown responding to flexible needs, SLA considers that customers’ needs are already covered. Black considers UFPLS to be a subset of drawdown that has become an “unnecessary distraction”.
