Small plane goes down in northwest Wichita after reporting engine trouble Emergency crews were searching along I-235 after a small aircraft reported engine trouble on its way to Wichita’s Eisenhower National Airport. The pilot reported an engine out and another one possibly failing around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the pilot reported he would not make it to the airport. Crews found the plane after it landed in the Big Ditch near K-96 and West Street. The pilot was reported to be uninjured.
