ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Let there be light – in Southwest Albuquerque. So declared city officials recently in announcing a $2.8 million “major street lighting project” that should have area residents beaming. The Department of Municipal Development this month will put out a request for proposal for 267 new streetlights in City Council District 3, according to a city news release. “This project will add lights to major roadways that currently go dark at sunset, including Bridge, Tower, Blake, Gibson and more,” the release says. “It will also install 52 streetlights along the final leg of the (Albuquerque Rapid Transit) route on Central Avenue from Coors Boulevard to Unser, so every streetlight on Central from Louisiana Avenue to Unser will look and operate the same.”
