Dec 19, Colombo: The governing body of the Katunayake Export Processing Zone states that no cattle will be slaughtered at any factory opened for the production of processed food essential for the local and international markets.
The sausage production factory was opened in the Katunayake Export Processing Zone on the 11th December with the participation of Minister Namal Rajapaksa and several Ministers and Parliamentarians.
The factory established on a three-acre land in IPZ at Katunayake aims to meet 10% of the international market requirement for meat-related products. It is expected to produce around 400 products, including value-added meat and vegetarian dishes.
