Dec 17, Colombo: Construction of Sri Lanka’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plant will begin in January, Minister of Power Dullas Alahapperuma said Thursday. Construction of the first LNG power plant at Kerawalapitiya, Wattala is expected to be commissioned by the Prime Minister in January, Minister Dullas Alahapperuma announced while participating in the dedication of the Kandana Customer Service Center of Lanka Electricity (Pvt) Ltd. to the people this morning (17). Speaking at the event, the Minister said different parties, different governments had different hopes for the people, but this government gave the people a completely different hope - how to build a fossil fuel free power sector.
