by The Nelson Daily Staff on Monday July 26 2021 The RDCK said stricter water conservation measures may be required if demand increases significantly, hot, and dry weather persists, or if the reservoir declines to critically low levels. Monday, effective immediately, the Regional District of Central Kootenay issued mandatory Stage 3 Water Conservation Measures for the South Slocan Water System, located approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Nelson and is within RDCK Electoral Area H. The RDCK said the Dam Inn is across Highway 3A and is supplied water from this water system. The RDCK said that Stage 3 Water Conservation Measures have been implemented as a measure to ensure that the system has adequate water supply for wildfire protection and to reduce the impact of high water consumption on reservoir levels, and low water pressure in portions of the water system.
