With characters that appeared in the final season of the Clone Wars, the Bad Batch spins off into its own show and helps to usher in the post-Republic era of the franchise. With a good space of time to work with between trilogies, Lucasfilm is operating with a few properties that will continue to flesh out events here in the visual form. We’ve got several novels that have already, my favorite being the Princess Leia novel, but we’ve also had Rogue One that takes us right to the edge of A New Hope while the Rebels TV series gives us a few years before that. Add in the Solo film and we’ve got a few odds and ends explored. But what dominates this period of time is the oppression that the Empire will spread across the galaxy as Palpatine works his plans that will carry him through Rise of Skywalker, stripmining worlds for his fleet and Death Stars while also working to create force-sensitive clones that he can inhabit should his body die or fail him.
