The old racing adage, ‘weight stops trains’ will be tested by FURTHER AND BEYOND, who goes for a fourth straight win, allowing his three-year-old peers weight all around in Saturday’s Kingston at seven and a half furlongs. The middle-distance event is the last major prep for colts and geldings ahead of next month’s 2000 Guineas following the April 6 Prince Consort Stakes, which FURTHER AND BEYOND won by a short head, reporting off a three-month lay-up, hassled at the wire by race-fit BILLY WHIZZ, who he allowed nine pounds. Returning 11lb heavier for the rematch, going half-furlong longer, FURTHER AND BEYOND appears to have shaken off the Prince Consort Stakes ring rust, galloping strongly at exercise with four-year-old LET HIM FLY in his last two workouts from the mile chute.
