The vaccination of thousands of Cape Cod Healthcare employees already has made a difference, the organization's CEO said in a press call Wednesday. Michael K. Lauf said last week was the first time in a long time that no health care employees were out because of a COVID-19 diagnosis. “To have zero last week in the middle of another surge is a powerful statement,” Lauf said. Vaccinations started Dec. 15, with first shots delivered to COVID-facing health care employees who were the top priority in phase one. Since then, 3,665 employees have received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and more than 3,000 have received the second and final shot, Lauf said.
