Study finds intestinal immune cells have sweet tooth

White blood cells that reside in the intestines, a particular class of immune cells known as tissue-resident lymphocytes, use sugar as an energy source and have a faster metabolism than lymphocytes that circulate in the blood, according to a recent study.
