STUMPED! Karnataka High trees for After a series of setbacks in the Karnataka High Court with regards to implementation of infrastructure projects that require axing of trees, Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar chaired an exclusive meeting on Thursday to figure out ways to get out of the legal wrangle. The top officer directed officials to fulfil the court’s observations flawlessly and quickly, while some suggested challenging the orders. One of the court’s observations that disappointed officials is a stay on axing 629 eucalyptus trees that were exempted from public consultation under the Tree Act. The court had, however, ordered not to cut these trees mechanically but save them.
