Australia's Lynas quarterly revenue hits record on stronger demand, prices

Australia’s Lynas quarterly revenue hits record on stronger demand, prices
(Reuters) – Australia’s Lynas Rare Earths Ltd on Monday reported record revenue in its fourth quarter, as demand for the metals it mines that are used in electric vehicles, smartphones and military equipment spurred prices higher.
Relaxed coronavirus curbs, coupled with booming demand for electric vehicles amid a global push to reduce carbon emissions, have helped the rare earths market bounce back from last year’s drop and led to a surge in prices.
“Demand for Lynas products, in particular for our NdPr product family, continued to be very strong through the quarter, leading to record sales and cash collection,” Chief Executive Officer Amanda Lacaze said.

By Lee Kah WhyeSingapore, July 26 (ANI): Earlier this month, India's ecommerce giant Flipkart announced a round of funding from various global investors which raised another USD 3.6 billion for the mega-unicorn, taking its value to USD 37.8 billion. This is likely to be the last pre-IPO shareholding opportunity as it is expected to go public later this year.
A Reuters report in March 2021 said that the Bengaluru-based company is seeking a 2021 overseas listing, very likely in the United States, with a possible market valuation of around USD 50 billion.
The latest round of funding saw fresh funds committed by Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Soft Bank Vision Fund 2 and Walmart. Also taking part in this funding round were sovereign funds like Qatar Investment Authority, Malaysia's Khazanah Nasional Berhad and DisruptAD, the venture arm of the Abu Dhabi sovereign fund, ADQ. Other backers included China's Tencent, Franklin Templeton and Tiger Global.

The plan to relax restrictions placed on travellers from France comes after officials appeared to acknowledge the threat from the Beta variant of the coronavirus had been contained, the newspaper said.
Under the current system anyone arriving from France will have to quarantine at home or in other accommodation for five to 10 days, even if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Replacing Lingayat strongman Yediyurappa with someone from another community may harm BJP in next elections

Replacing Lingayat strongman Yediyurappa with someone from another community may harm BJP in next elections
Updated: Jul 26, 2021 07:16 IST
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 26 (ANI): Amid speculations of leadership change in Karnataka, replacing four-time chief minister BS Yediyurappa, a Lingayat strongman, from somebody from another community would not be favourable for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said sources on Sunday.
However, sources in the party said that the BJP functionary in Karnataka will accept if leadership nominates anyone who is not from the Lingayat community as the Chief Minister, but the decision might harm the party's position in the state.
"Yeddyurappa Ji is Chief Minister. Yet if anyone gets any chance except the Lingayat community, then everyone will accept it. But it may harm BJP," said a senior BJP leader from Karnataka on a condition of anonymity.
