Sturgis Township Board is lending its financial support to prepare a road for a major development project. The township board on Monday voted unanimously to accept a proposal from the city of Sturgis to share the expense of improving South Nottawa Street near Bogen Road. The board met in-person for the first time since fall 2020. Sturgis Economic Development Corporation recently approved a purchase contract for property at Dresser Industrial Park. A potential 60-plus acre development identified as “Project Black” is planning to locate at the site. The project would result in significant new taxable value and job creation, city officials said.
