DRY January is set to begin, and if you are thinking of taking part this year, a vital service is offering advice and support to those who are struggling to kick the habit. But for others the process of giving up alcohol is a challenging one to turn their lives around, and there won't be any need for anyone to face that challenge alone. Ged Pickersgill, project development manager at Barrow-based third-sector anti-addiction group, said: "January seems like a very long month, so if I think 'I'm just not going to drink today', and if I can successfully navigate today without drinking then I'll wake up tomorrow and do the same.
