The Dispatch Police said a suspect intentionally drove his motorcycle at officers during a pursuit that injured a Thomasville police officer Thursday. On Thursday, March 4 at 1:39 p.m, the Thomasville Police Department was notified that Rowan County law enforcement needed assistance in the pursuit of a motorcycle. The motorcycle, driven by Brian Alexander Bacelli, 28, of Jamestown, had no license plate and was traveling northbound on Interstate 85, according to a news release. Thomasville police said they set up a mobile roadblock near Kanoy Road, which would have allowed for the motorcycle to safely stop. When Bacelli reached the roadblock, he "accelerated rapidly and deliberately struck" an officer who had exited his vehicle to take Bacelli into custody, according to the release. Police said as a result of the impact, the officer, Detective Sergeant Joseph Driggers, was knocked back 10-15 feet.
