Suspect indicted on murder charge in Houma man's shooting death A man accused of fatally shooting a Houma resident earlier this year has been indicted on a murder charge. A Terrebonne Parish grand jury found enough evidence last week to charge 23-year-old Sherman Ruffin with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is accused of killing Martin Jones, 26, during the early morning on Jan. 24 in Houma. An indictment does not presume guilt or innocence but indicates the grand jury found prosecutors presented enough evidence to warrant a trial on the charges. The shooting occurred 1:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Plant Road. Jones died at a local hospital from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
