Police are asking for the publicâs help finding the people who fled from a vehicle that reached speeds in excess of 100 mph on Friday evening on South Wesleyan Boulevard before crashing at the interchange with N.C. 97. Police responded to a suspicious event outside a business in Word Plaza on the north side of the interchange with North Wesleyan Boulevard and U.S. 64, a City of Rocky Mount spokesman said. The police department had received a phone call stating there were suspects at the door of Vibes Lounge and wearing ski masks, the spokesman said. When police arrived, they saw a black sedan whose driver was driving in the parking lot, and when those in the vehicle noticed police, the driver turned the vehicleâs headlights off, the spokesman said.
