Syracuse-area mail carrier charged with federal crime for not delivering mail
Updated Dec 14, 2020;
Syracuse, NY -- An Onondaga County mail carrier was indicted on a felony in federal court, accused of failing to deliver the mail.
Tanner Brown, 24, now of Sharon Springs, Schoharie County, “secreted, detained and delayed” mail in Onondaga County from Jan. 1 to July 24, 2019, according to the federal indictment.
It’s unclear from the indictment what federal agents believe Brown’s motive might have been. But mail carriers occasionally face charges from their federal employers for pocketing mail for a variety of reasons.
Prosecutors first attempted to contact Brown about the charges in late November. However, a copy of the indictment, sent to him through the mail, came back as “return to sender.”
