Tasker hearing put back

Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes has reiterated that the extradition matter against former senior vice-president at the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd (ICBL), Alex Tasker, is urgent and he expects to see him and his lawyer in court next month.
The proceedings were scheduled to be heard yesterday in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court but Tasker and his attorney, Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim, were absent.
Senior Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas, who represented the Crown, told the court he had received a message from Pilgrim stating he was adhering to the COVID-19 protocols and would not be attending.
“He stated he had some information from the Registrar that there would be no court appearances during the pause – new matters and protection orders only,” Thomas said.
