With 5km to go in the Tauranga Half, triathlete Kyle Smith was not in a good way as he rounded the Mauao base track.
"I was in a lot of pain. I was kind of
light-headed and on the edge.
"I was thinking I would have to pull out. The lights had gone out, there was nothing left."
