Scores of people are gathered at the National Housing Corporation on Country Road, St Michael, waiting to collect cheques as payment for cleaning up the roadways of ash following the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano.
Minister of Housing and Lands and co-ordinator of the National Clean-Up Campaign, Dr William Duguid said the NHC headquarters was being used as a hub for payment collection.
Prime Minister Mia Mottley said 1 500 temporary jobs would be created to deal with the national clean-up. La Soufriere had an explosive eruption on April 9 and the following day, loads of ash was dumped on Barbados. (RA)
