Tesla faces more questions from US regulator on 'Elon mode' Autopilot configuration

The U.S. auto safety regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), has demanded an explanation from Tesla regarding a software change that allows drivers to keep their hands off the wheel for longer. The NHTSA is concerned that this change could lead to driver inattention and collisions. The agency has ordered Tesla to answer questions about the software update and produce related documents, but the order does not compel a vehicle recall.
