A Thales subsidiary has received a contract from the Defense Innovation Unit to prototype a family of advanced standard batteries designed to simplify logistical and network operations. Under the contract, Thales Defense & Security Inc. will utilize processes already employed to support the AN/PRC-148 radio family of batteries to manufacture hundreds of prototypes of the Small Tactical Universal Batteries by 2025, the company said Wednesday.
