The Boat House will not be reopening in the Great Lakes Maritime Center this season. In a Facebook post Sunday, Kate’s Downtown owner Kate Voss announced she was discontinuing the Boat House in the center, a satellite location to her downtown Port Huron café. “It just seemed like the smartest decision business-wise,” Voss said in a phone interview Monday. She said she emailed the center’s owner, Acheson Ventures, at the beginning of February saying she would not reopen the business. The Boat House opened in March 2019, replacing the center’s previous deli café owners who retired, and offered specials, drinks, soups, sandwiches and more. This would have been the satellite location’s third season.
