The City of Sarasota extends public health emergency declaration through the new year

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The City of Sarasota will extend its declaration of a local citywide public health emergency through 2021.
The order will carry on through Jan. 8 following a weekly review in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The emergency order was issued Thursday by Interim City Manager Marlon Brown, in consultation with Mayor Hagen Brody and City Attorney Robert Fournier.
The order also extends the City’s temporary street closure program through Jan. 31 to allow additional space for outdoor dining and help restaurants and retailers severely impacted by the pandemic.
