Picture: ABISHEK CHAND Government has established a maritime technical working committee to monitor safe movement and COVID-19 restrictions. A Government statement read the committee was formed after consultations between the Defence Ministry and Health Ministry. Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport permanent secretary Shaheen Ali said the group was set up in light of the new locally transmitted cases. “The committee’s key mandate is to guide and monitor safe movement and COVID restrictions,” he said. “A number of health and safety protocols were developed and enforced for maritime travel when Fiji recorded its first case in March 2020.
