The Link: Triage center will track 'jail super utilizers,' emergency room usage When Sioux Falls' new mental health and addiction triage center, The Link, opens doors in early June, one of the primary goals will be to provide help to people who would have otherwise headed to a local emergency room or the Minnehaha County Jail. The center will aim to "reduce emergency department utilization due to addiction and mental illness crisis by 25%, through ambulance diversion to The Link," according to a recent press release. The center will also keep track of other similar performance indicators, including the percentage of "jail super utilizers," or people with five or more bookings into the jail, and how many emergency department visits have a primary diagnosis of a behavioral health issue.
