The most popular names for Christchurch's canines - and some

Max has been a popular dog name in Christchurch for years and that appears to still be the case – 388 dogs registered with the council have the moniker.
Other male dog names that made the top 10 include Charlie (sixth), Toby (eight), Archie (ninth) and Buddy (tenth). Ruby is in fifth place, and Rosie in seventh.

Dog owners John and Sandra Stapleton live in Mount Pleasant with their 5-year-old spoodle Bella.
John said they did not choose Bella’s name – she was already 2 years old when she became part of the family – but he could not think of another that would suit her more.
