But Discovery Canyon High School in Colorado Springs is very jazzed about their latest step towards "normal." The Discovery Canyon High Jazz Ensemble recently had their first performance since February 21, 2020. And they didn’t sound rusty at all, in part, playing “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder – an incredibly difficult song to play. Justin Carpenter is the band director who wanted to point out Nicholas Hall on Trumpet: Nick made All-State Jazz, All-State Band and All-State Orchestra – a trifecta that's nearly unheard of. Sean Kirkpatrick is part of the ensemble and a composer who’s also been recognized for his work while still in high school.
