The Thunder Bay Generating Station has been sold to a demolition company

THUNDER BAY — A Hamilton-based demolition company has purchased Ontario Power Generation's Thunder Bay Generating Station.
OPG has announced the sale of the decommissioned station to Budget Demolition.
The mothballing of the Mission Island power plant was announced in 2018.
When OPG put the plant and 54 acres of land up for sale, it said it would try to find a buyer whose plans for the site would create the maximum benefits to the community, including jobs and economic spinoffs.
The City of Thunder Bay had lobbied OPG to ensure the property was repurposed.
However, Wednesday's announcement did not indicate what plans Budget Demolition might have for the site.
