The year was 1995 and the first installment in Capcom's Versus series, Marvel Super Heroes, dropped and offered players the chance to assume control of characters that would eventually become
much more popular. The game was intriguing and would set the stage for an iconic branch of the gaming genre, but the standards for fighting games were... very, very different than those of today.
Shuma-Gorath was one of the title's 10 selectable characters, and was equipped with a variety of rush down attacks and command grabs. Characters in Marvel Super Heroes would gain access to the Infinity Stones during play, and if Shuma paired a few of his moves with the Time Stone, he could actually cause a glitch that would render his foe helpless across rounds.
