Thunder Bay could see near-record temperatures by the weekend

THUNDER BAY — A shift in weather patterns may threaten some high-temperature records in Northwestern Ontario in the days ahead.
Environment Canada says the thermometer will climb into the high twenties and low thirties in the Thunder Bay region through the first 10 days or so of June.
It's forecasting plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the city ranging from 24 C to 31 C  between Wednesday and next Monday, and likely for at least a couple days beyond that.
The normal daily maximum in Thunder Bay at this time of year is only 19 C.
Meteorologist Jeff Coulson said the new weather pattern will draw warm air into Northwestern Ontario from the U.S. deep south.
