Timmins police 'confounded' by record pace of drunk driving charges

Police conducting a RIDE program through the streets of Port Hope, Ont.
Police in Timmins, Ontario, have handed out five charges for drunk driving over the last three weeks, setting a pace that, should it hold, will blow past the numbers captured in 2019 and 2018.
“This speaks to fairly careless behaviour or a fairly casual point of view on the part of some drivers,” police service’s communications coordinator, Marc Depatie, told CTV News Northern Ontario.
“There’s got to be some (consideration) with local drivers to make plans so that they don’t put themselves behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking.”
