“Tisdale is not seeing an increase. Unfortunately the numbers are staying the same across the last two years and have decreased from the 2019 stats,” said Sgt. Wanita Minty, detachment commander. “Children are in a vulnerable state as they rely on caregivers to provide support, safety and protection. When those caregivers suddenly become offenders the child needs to find a way to report, to get help.” Minty encourages children who are in an abusive situation to find another adult they can trust. During school months she said staff can be an option, outside of school months she advised the Kids Help Phone or the RCMP emergency line at 911.
