The TMP, which had earlier captured the politically important Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council in April 2021, has been demanding that a separate state of Greater Tipraland be created by covering the areas under the autonomous body. The TMP is the second largest party in the Tripura assembly. TMP has 13 MLAs in a 60 members assembly.
