Tourism operators want DOC's $25 million concession fee waiver extended

Conversation Minister Kiri Allan says help for tourism operators needs to be fair and equitable.
Conservation Minister Kiri Allan said the department needed to balance a range of factors when it considered the fees.
Discussions were under way on how to best assist tourism operators in a way that was fair and equitable, she said.
“Future decisions will have to go to Cabinet for signoff and will be communicated after that.”
Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) chief executive Chris Roberts said he expected a decision would be made as part of the May budget.
A pre-Budget announcement would be preferable as it would give about 1000 affected operators time to price their products accordingly.
