TRA reopens tax default accounts 22 *Those shifted to the central bank will not yield cash when accessed ALL bank accounts owned by individual businessmen that were closed by state agencies over tax arrears have been opened, a senior official with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) disclosed here yesterday. TRA Director for Taxpayer Services and Education, Richard Kayombo made this affirmation during a presentation at the 10th editors’ conference and professional workshop organized by the Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF). Kayombo stated that TRA is now entering into a special agreement with businessmen on how they can pay their tax debts, noting that the law allows TRA to seize bank accounts of individual businessmen as a way of recovering money in defaulted taxes.
