They form ice shelves, floating extensions of the ice that hold back the glaciers. Signed scientists determine that the ice shells have been melting 70 faster in the last decade than before. In the places denoted in red, the speed into the ocean is increasing every year. Scientists say the smith glacier, one of the smallest is changing fastest, and its a good way of understanding why the scientists are worried. Not only is it melting, the bounding line, the place where they rock, well beneath the water is melting away and moving inland. Here is what the bounding line looks like in 1996.
