Radio barks your welcome to Friday coming up this morning we meet 2 more of the people who made it to the final 6 in our hunt for new voices one of them is going to get a show on b.b.c. Radio Barker stick around for that we've got all the latest on the election campaign I want to start by talking about the n.h.s. Round here we learned yesterday that the n.h.s. He's pretty much as important as Breck's it when we all decide who to vote for on the 12th of December so yesterday I opened up the lines and I said look tell me about your last encounter with the n.h.s. Now I want to be absolutely clear that we were flooded with phone calls we took an hour of solid phone calls and the vast majority of people were saying that their last encounter with the n.h.s. Was fantastic and couldn't say enough good stuff about it where a couple of stories that were more worrying that we wanted to follow up on the program starting with Leslie who called me from tap like I went to visit a friend of mine elderly friend she's sort of in her ninety's and she was in a 4 bedded ward at our one of our local hospitals Yes and there were 2 ladies in the ward who both wanted the bar. So I went and tried to find and eventually they came about course and I later said just do it in your pads you've got. What. The nurse said to the patients just go to the toilet in your incontinence pads and we'll come and deal with it afterwards. I mean what reaction was there from the patients from you and whatever to that that says that's an amazing revelation I spoke to my friend who I visited and she said it happens all the time I went to spoke to somebody at the desk. And on my way out I went to prowl to report this is the patient liaison service and has anyone done a thing about it you probably probably don't know because our encounters with the n.h.s. Are sort of fleeting not they would come and go if I haven't heard anything from them at all and I gave them my name and address except So that's what Lesley told me in tap low now at the moment we know which hospital this happened that we've been in touch with the hospital the haven't yet come back to us with a full inadequate response to what Leslie said neither have the patient patient b A's on service who Leslie has raised this with as a complaint until we get a response we're going to leave that there and come back to it on Monday speech or of course if they continue to fail to come back to us we're going to tell you anyway which hospital this happened at but hopefully the people working at the hospital will get back to us today on that will return to this worrying story about people not being taken to the toilet with staff saying just do it in your pads and clean you up later next week to wait 105100 I hope that is an individual isolated incident that no one else is going to experience or but if I'm wrong please pick up the phone and tell me Jane got in touch with me from did Kit now Jay was discharged from the Royal Box a hospital earlier this year and when she got her discharge papers there was someone else's They included someone else's medical history. That roid injection in my back in my back and. Into the muck and muscular section of the robot Yes I got discharged everybody get this charge now. Well I just put them in my bag what you did few days lifetime looked at them so. Well and I'm not blah blah blah and I thought somebody else's notes in the middle of my notes and it's got a 4 minute medical history so that it mean the 1st thing to say this is obviously a mistake isn't it we know we're all humans we might mistakes but somehow someone else's medical notes I've ended up tangled up with ules and then you being given them to tell you how what did you decide to do at Mattel I'm cuz I wasn't too bothered about it all I didn't do anything about it anyway I went to see my g.p. And took my notes with myself and showed her because I didn't think there was a 9 month I didn't actually notice the 9 to start with because it's so small writing and she said this is breach of you know that Protection Act You've got to act Tony and you've got to do this and you've got to do that she couldn't do it so your g.p. I think is going to seriously by the sound of it this is quite a serious problem she says is a breeze have come you know Data Protection Act except for it's a trust and because I want to care for my autistic son also all like I know people that yes you will you know and then it was only I had my follow up saw the layoff the 6 month. And saw my consultant It sounds like this and I said to him about it. And he was wasn't surprised he said this is not the 1st time Roland and he source said the pre-show if you don't do and think about it that was me was pulling my leg and all that not but he said it will balls look at fallen 350000 pounds so 1st of all you and it was someone else's notes and you don't think too much of it you're asking g.p. And she says you must follow this up this is serious and then you ask your consultant and he says please keep going to bet that basically because about it he will you know came to it because it's because well I did was such a photocopied I gave him a photocopy shakes of kept the original just in case he ripped it up or was it something else with it and he said he would torn it but not. You know roid so time in theory as far as you're consultants concerned you've left it with him meantime you've been asked not to tell anybody because it'll get the hospital into trouble potentially market the hospital into trouble if they don't get signed this 350000 pound planet left what do you want to happen I don't know I haven't really thought that far into it it's just that as you said what was your last encounter with the n.h.s. So I just thought yeah the phone told you my experience how how serious the thing does it seem to you because people take different views about this kind of thing someone's might have a state event with someone else's notes how big a problem do you think that is you know. That era you know as my consultant was at the probably our many times as it. So that's Jane in did kid who got in touch the Royal Box tell me they won't discuss matters relating to individual patients via the media and want anyone who has a complaint to contact the patient relations team because you are at liberty to discuss patients cases by the media with their permission which we have but anyway Andrew sharpest from health watch box the morning 100 morning entry very good thank you very much indeed for coming on what do you make of the case we just heard of a patient being sent home with someone else's medical records I think it's a huge concern and I think probably of equal concern is the varying advice she was receiving as well I think I think that sort of actually equal concern. Because one of the things that people should think about is that if you're dealing with a 1000000 patients every 36 hours which is what the n.h.s. Does you know occasionally there are bound to be things around however the management of patient data is apps. Vital it's really important people have confidence that their medical records will be kept safe so you know the g.p. Was absolutely right it should be reported should be reported to the place it occurred and I would also obviously clearly say report it to your local Health Watch you've also got some other options you can report the cat calls the commission now one hand you've got someone saying Well you know things will happen according the but actually I think you would find if you would talk to senior people in the n.h.s. They would want you to report it because if you report things and this is good stuff as well as bad stuff and sadly it's the bad stuff that tends to get all that well that's true although I want to try to keep on the lawn and we did a whole hour of phone calls yesterday developed majority reporting great things I mean you know I wanted to underline not all the time you know this is a couple of stories we got but but but I think what what what what helpful to an organization like the n.h.s. Is yes by all means report this it really should be reported because they're never going to pick up what the problem was if people don't report it in the same report as your local health what Sure it's very serious to care cause he commission. But I would equally tell people to report the good stuff as well because they won't necessarily know they're doing that better than that and something else but I think I think with regards records absolutely easy you know these cases because I think I was saying to Jane and she was willing accepting people are going to make mistakes right people are going to make mistakes it is that huge amount of patients. That ease the ease the attempt the Jains experience to cover this up worse than the original mistake. I would like to comment on the particular case but what I would say the g.p. Was absolutely right it should be reported it should be put through the appropriate channels and then you've also got independent Health Watch organizations like ourselves that weekly can take a look at things and then raised them with the appropriate authorities I would say to people please do recall these things because you may think it's mine you may think it's a nickel but it's a fundamental problem somewhere because only be picked up people actually say 100 Thank you Andreas Scholl from Health Watch Boucher your reaction to the 2 stories we've lifted out of the sea of really good reports of encounters with the n.h.s. Round here very welcome oh yes oh wait 10510770 b.b.c. Radio. Every 15 minutes. Yes it's Freud things are quite nicely at the moment remember if you haven't yet this morning you'll need to spend some time scraping it possibly. Very very cold overnight. If you're trying to get on to junction 3 of the m 3 a bank shot bits of a queue both ways to get. There For Me. That's normal for this time in the morning was also normal e.c.m. For now slowing down from Judge Pfeiffer Langley going towards the m 25 and of course we've still got those road works just by the Thames Valley Park roundabout just outside reading still doing all right. The road from solving direction there's not much of a white about direction becoming out of reading though it's killing on the King's Road junction all the way along the bridge to the railway bridge where the lights and he coming down to the roundabout from the a 32 No I know the whole of the right thing for my hands on the trains remember the trains can't stop westbound I hope station because. There are buses in step between hookah Basingstoke and if you please let me know on 101 for want. From b.b.c. Radio Chad thank you very much indeed news stories I'm sure it's trouble you trust b.b.c. Radio. Kirsten's got the head launched rain has caused flooding mudslides and travel disruption across large parts of northern England they're all about the hospital gave a woman another patient's medical notes when she was discharged the hospital says it won't comment on the conservatives are bailing plans for a fast track visa system to attract foreign doctors and nurses what your weather was a really really chilly start but is should be sunny today a little bit of rain perhaps around but mostly dry and brilliant top temperature 8 degrees Celsius $46.00 pound. Weight Dr Bob should news box your story Andrew ph excuse b.b.c. Radio Fox. B.b.c. Radio election use the small and let's just talk about who's standing where they're standing. So at the moment political parties are going through their selection processes we talked a little bit about the conservatives in Bracknell yesterday let's think about the bricks and policy and where they're standing round here we do have a list of candidates for the break to party in some constituencies My question is are they going to stand in the Woking constituency I only ask because when they break the party needed nodule Farage came on the Pete show in September this is what he told me if Joe was to say that he would not go for the withdrawal agreement under any circumstances then of course we take an extremely favorable view of John and I well I think he has said that repeatedly does that mean taking a favorable view does that mean not standing in working world so we've selected 550 and that's appointed them to constituents as we have. Yet which I think gives you that indication of how we would write so you wouldn't stand against people who've never voted for the withdrawal agreement and who say they never would vote for the withdrawal agreement that would be rather self-defeating because clearly we're on the same side the problem is there are only 28 people like John Redwood in the entire city so that's what module far orange said on the show in September that it would sounded like the breaks it Party wouldn't stand against John Redwood since then of course John Redwood has voted for Boris Johnson's withdrawal deal which Nigel Farage the breaks the party and not at all keen on so are they going to stand against him could be significant in a seat where it's going to be quite a fight already shall we say so we asked the exit party are you standing against the other candidates in the working constituency and 1st they said yes we will be standing a candidate in your area and one announce the name in the next few days so we went back to the backs of party and said party you're absolutely sure you're going to stand and blokey and bearing in mind your own leader has said on our show that you're not going to stand him why. And they said they'd get back to. Will let you know when they do the candidates lists close next Thursday and of course we'll give you the chance to not only meet them all on the program hear from the wall in the program question them on the program and also put all the names of all the candidates in your constituency online for you to check out the full selection you've got to choose from on the 12th of December is for the Phils like it's been going a long time I was election already doesn't it Paul Roadies our political correspondent Molly Paul good morning and good to have you here it's been quite a bad start for many of the parties certainly labor in the Conservatives have both had all sorts of things go wrong this week a month it's extraordinary I mean opening day disastrous it appeared for the conservatives when Alan cairns of Wales Secretary resigned from the cabernets the longest serving cabinet minister although he's only been there for 3 years is a bit like being a football manager I suppose being in the cabin isa under the tree to me and David Cameron and Boris Johnson he's gone we're not quite sure whether he'll be the candidate in his seat in Wales the leader of the commons Jacob Reese Morgan's also face calls to quit over comments about Graeme filter for good measure Labor's Deputy Leader Tom Watson announced he was going yesterday added to the fact that 2 former Labor M.P.'s are saying they're going to vote Conservative So it's an awful day for labor yesterday and then we've had overnight a couple of candidates going in Scotland both labor one for what was seen as directly comments against a prominent prominent Scottish Nationalist another for what were regarded as anti Jewish comments all of these things it's the curse of social media these days which didn't exist in many previous elections that you mention working in the back seat parties as one breaks apart in the candidate in the Cotswolds which are I'm not standing why bother why do you vote Conservative So that kind of thing is going on an overnight we've heard that. Another candidate is going and the Athens to. Be the man
