Actually learning smoke alarm breaking glass kicking off as they say How you doing today it's chilly out that is blowing cold it's like the depths of winter we're going to get not too many days like this but who knows a minutes pass rate is b.b.c. Radio bristle at Clare with you on a Thursday and we have got in and 2 hours time Gosh long time yeah cabs There's a pub quiz returning champion Ewan from the Shakespeare in talk to down here I think is one Maggie think about 4 weeks in a row yeah we reckon. And he's done really well last week complete 3 nil whitewash against his opponent he's pretty good he's very good at saying thinks quickly which is the whole thing about the pub quiz so he's going to be back brand new challenger today you surf manager of the drawbridge which if you are a Brazilian you will know is right next door to the Hippodrome right in the center of town as that's going to happen after 5 o'clock play along with that and my guest today they going to be here in just a 2nd an Aussie band called President streets here in Bristol to play a gig at the rest by cafe in Broad Street and later on today I'm going to be in the studio very soon indeed for a chat and in the news today or more correctly the sportsperson is a party company. With Steve Hayes the chairman the statement announcing that was extremely brief but 18 words long to announce that the chairman was going and we're trying to find out why and what next for Reivers on the show today a connection to come as well and good day bad day with mag later and she is on the show this afternoon from Duran Duran. And this one from Steve Harvey with Cockney Rebel make me smile come up and say me. We've. We've. Steve Harvey caught me rebel come up and see me make me smile 30 minutes past 3 it is always Thursday yeah must remember that Clare with you and on b.b.c. Radio Bristol got a great band in the studio for you right now they're from Australia and the co-presidents tree I love the name already here in Bristol to play a gig at the rest by cafe in Broad Street and they're in the studio you can hear them live Guys welcome to the show lovely to have you all on how are you we have Pete and Ali and welcome welcome lovely to meet you all now Ali. You know you're kind of a collective aren't you yeah I mean I'm relatively new to the group I just kind of been brought on for the 2 hour just to play guitar These guys have been going for a couple years and about 6 of them in total but just for those 2 or it's stripped back acoustic so there's only us 3 Ok here how do you keep up with them already. That's a bit aware of the best of times. What you do just sack a few from time to time so you keep up and I know I'm pretty lucky it's a good it's quite a sort of fluid set up as well you know free for us to travel if we need to or do other projects but yeah pay night is sort of constant in the in the band Ok but yeah it's good Ok And Pete I love the name president's tree what a great name for a band Thank you I think that's your doing isn't Yeah why you call that prison streets a name of the street I grew up in in person with yeah yes I know Ok and did it immediately come to your mind you thought you know what this is a great name for a band funny enough. It didn't really sort of you know that you know picking a bad name is often the most difficult part of anything it must be so I put it out there without giving the back story and people reacted to it Ok and then the factors got some meaning sort of just. A bit of an added bonus really yeah yeah and how did you and Reby start kind of playing music together yes. It's been a bit of a joy to review No I mean on a musical or a musical kinda So there was a website in Perth. Australia called Star now where. Models put up their profile and people getting tired and I got in touch with Ruby and it took her about a week or so but she eventually swap right now are it is Ruby why did use want right. Is indeed the right direction. To go down and I forgot to reply actually for about a week and then I gosh I better get back and yeah we met up and listened to some tracks that were already down and just saw that we'd work really well together and yeah it's great and I'm guessing that you must you must be able to listen to each other's music on the thing is it or is it just a random picture yet it so here. Was the guitar he had he's just a tape I mean you barely had any sort of profile really but in the way they contacted me he sort of just explained a few things and I obviously had just a couple of tracks that I'd put down funny thing about that is that all of the other always looking through it trying to find a famous singer really kind of having female vocals Yeah and all of the other singers had fully produced songs which I don't done in the studio with back cetera who was really grabbed her off on and just saying I could tell her in the toilet and it was like not on the toilet in Gaza Ok let's go to castings in the you know video is all about just launched and already I track you know I wonder how common this is this is how bands get together and musicians who come up well with sort of the gig economy these days I mean you know there's a lot of a lot of music I was up just in one project you know with the same city as well like a couple of our guys are in Sydney and Australia as well we're based in Melbourne so yeah the technology is amazing these days to connect in all the creatives and make things happen what's happening in the Melbourne music scene. You know them I'm you know it's busy actually quite a thriving music up there's a lot of underground music there's a lot of musical a lot of support for the industry along the pubs and stuff like that so it's actually pretty cool place to to get to come up to be honest with you so you could go to a different venue every night and light hair do your kinds of yours that could just lately go for in the morning and there's also a lot of even for complete starting music as a lot of open mikes still stuff what that word you go to a lot of cities and the open markets are really a gig for established music yes I would there's enough of a saying to really bring people up through all the evils Now how many times have you been in the u.k. This is our 2nd to 2nd year and how did you find it 1st time around please be kind . It was much where a mess at the moment you might know yeah well it's funny we were here in March and we were due to have a final gig in Manchester on the brig's that day oh my goodness but that was one of us ever really one of the original Yeah you know that was like 7 months ago and we're back in the still of the same stuff so that's enough so that's why it's nice to know we don't change or surprise you at all. And how was that 1st tour of the u.k. I mean I feel like we have great connections with with Aussies are going to say we love it here with right answer did you play Bristol then we did I do you play Bristol uni Oh mazing Ok did you get a good reaction it was it was you know I was really not it was a pretty rapid fire we drive be employed or drive out but this time was dying for a few days and yeah getting to see it there so yeah pretty good got us. All is it your 1st time here you know I used to live you know not in Bristol London. So but I've been it's been a while but putting my family nice is something I've heard but I don't remember being that nice really oh my goodness yeah are you sure you were there maybe you were so maybe I mean how do you go to like another company like. I know it sort of strikes me as a very posh kind of place. You know with the river there and also pubs and all that stuff yeah maybe your parents just gave it that nickname say that you thought. It might be so you've been going around the u.k. How long have you been here on this particular tour people have been here a few days now through what I actually thought that we're going to last week Wednesday I think 5 in the morning yeah oh my good ask what was the jetlag like we we all fit pretty well I think. I know which is which way do you get like is it going that well you know everything everything I get really away from Australia every way yeah fair enough from here to here everyone every time we speak to someone they go oh my God I could never do that flight we go it will be just like it has no choice yeah did you hear about this 19 hour flight which is like yeah yeah whole distance you know it's stopping from Perth cities I think do you fancy that. Boy Oh I don't know I don't know to me are not we didn't I do a lot of stopping and just walking for a couple of hours and then getting even though it's an extra couple of hours on the plane just breaking it up and having a wander as seems to make a difference to me how many movies would you watch in 1000 hours on that flight what a whole series of like you know what's killing killing a. T.v. Series at least Yeah it's a bit of p.q. Blinders Oh no I see. Every single episode and then again I get there so it's more the table even than film so yeah of course it is because it is right you going to play for us what you going to do. This song is called Yeah and I'm Ok is it new. And it's not really I don't. Actually I'm you can listen to the studio version of it obviously on all of the the streaming services and everything but it will give you a bit of a taste of pretty crazy jam for to stick around Yeah Ok And here it is then the acoustic version live in the actual studio president straight playing live gone guys 1234. My. Was. Was. Ship was on. The look in love a bit. On. Space. They. Must. Was No. Was. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah great job really like yeah really really great performance well done president's plane life. Review Do you have any kind of other singers to you you love you do you kind of. You know I grew up on a lot of the big voices really so you know you Whitney Mariah Carey Yeah Tina Raina a wonderful Australian vocalist and she had a couple of Yeah yeah so from the stronger vocalist but I do love the more sort of delicate very close as well like Joel in terms of female vocalists but yeah I was brought up on on the old school music as well through my dad that I was very lucky to to grow up on but so that was the music that you were hearing when you growing up yeah all right from the Rolling Stones Michael Jackson bagels Albus all of that thankfully from my dad myself I've always goes to the more melodic voices Yeah you know that was a great performance range are you going to be playing Have you done you'll get in Bristol or is that. Tonight Yeah it does about that. Yes So I am it not so I start to question. Do you really do want me to say or do you got it you know is the rest but now this is a new venue for me I haven't been here yeah I haven't been there I should say Broad Street which is right in the center of the old city of Bristol It's a lovely part of Brazil that's what you play you know I feel like your mother to now. Do you know what time you're on. We were about 730 I guess 730 and you're playing in a cafe which is I think is veggie or vegan. So I'm looking forward to that we want to eat before we get there yeah is that a big thing now in Australia is such a massive thing is and yeah absolutely and that's why we've it's been great coming here like I'm personally I'm not so vague and but I do like to go for is why it's nice being vegan but it was it's like it was like I was eating meat like I was. You I don't think you. Know it's you know it's nice just as well for health and of course the animals to you know do as much as we possibly can in whatever capacity we're able to fit Yeah it's nice that wherever you go there is always an option here and that sort of what it's really becoming like in Melbourne turns up so I think you guys are a little bit ahead of us I think in a stroller but it's fantastic to say now you know I haven't asked you the vital question that you have to ask Australians What do you think of the weather here isn't it lovely it's also. It's been really motivating for us the sun goes down a full 30 you know so. Yeah we love that piece has come in here with a beautiful time here. And you know some of it is and some of it could outpace the faces who was 39 degrees this way I could call them all like crazy I've been I own my own no that's too warm for me yeah it's not too much it is no no no you know it's tough to sleep. Yeah of course it has Welcome to the wild freezing cold and so glad to meet you thank you so much for coming on which I really enjoyed that I have a great gig and the rest of the thank you very much thank you.
