They need to be careful with whatever is decided we have a fantastic tourism based on our wonderful coast and we've got to make sure that that coast is defended equally we've got to make sure that people can use the coast and enjoy it I dare say they are big structures and they will have an impact but that's got to be balanced by the fact that they do a very important job in defending the coastline in other news this morning the cabinets expected to discuss growing concern about the financial pressures facing the n.h.s. In England it's understood that the foreign secretary Boris Johnson will be calling for an extra 100000000 pounds a week for the service Nigel Farage has rallied behind you keeps embattled leader Henry Bolton supporting his plans to reform the party Mr Bolton's again insisted he will not step down after a row over racist text messages sent by his former girlfriend you capes national executive unanimously backs a vote of no confidence in Mr Bolton at the weekend but the former leader says the party itself needs to change those of us that have tried to lead Ukip have been held up frustrated stopped from doing what we want to do by a national executive committee made up of people who've got almost no experience of politics at all if he's able to put together a new constitution the new management structure of the party that shows that the leader needs to be able to lead not be held back by a failed organization he might just win with that the company which is building Grantham's bypasses to take over Lincoln's Eastern bypass for the time being the county council says the tribe will continue to work continue the work started by Karelian which went bust last week the authority says it's looking for a firm to manage the project in the longer term by the leader of the county council Martin Hill says it is a good step forward that people sometimes moan about turn bureaucracy in councils and I think that's a pretty tremendous turnaround within a week we've got nothing back home on the road and we're looking like we're going to get I think deliver Lincolnshire police says it will be using new tasers which are more accountable and safer the full says the new devices automatically switch off after 5 seconds when they're fired. Today some talk about libraries in the 1st part of the program we're also going to talk about Parkinson's disease a bit later on as well Neil Diamond has announced he's no longer going to tour because of his Parkinson's so I'm wondering what is it like living with Parkinson's Disease is it something that you have one of lift. For a while maybe your partner has Parkinson's disease what it's like to live with someone with Parkinson's I want to talk about not a little bit later on in the program today as well 152-251-1219 Tuesday travel is back after 11 o'clock our talk more about that later the reason talk about libraries that was yesterday a great pleasure to go along and officially open the new Community Library in Welton that they have had a library and Welton the lease ran out where it was in the center of the village I think sort of near to the Co-op right in the center the village the lease is run out so they had to decide what to do and the local parish council have created a space at the Manor Park Sports Club just on the outskirts of Belton That means the libraries moved out from the center as such but there is car parking everything there there was a lot of fuss wasn't there but 23 years ago talking about cuts to library services and a lot of people called into this program and said look we don't want to lose our libraries so what happened way you live did you manage to keep your library going if you did do you use that line very very well saying we don't want to lose our libraries but do you use the No 152-251-1219 is the number to call. Have a little gas. Instantly right off the top of your head how old is this song. How old you think it is. 31 years old that. Sounded. Fresh today Michael Jackson The Way You Make Me Feel. Every use your line break I think it is Johnny says Nice to see more libraries opening where you as a reopening of the one in well to because at the close the one I think in September of last year when the lease ran out on the facility they had in the center of the village they had to look for somewhere else to house the library I think the real positive story of this is that the volunteers were so determined that they wanted to keep a library in Welton in the parish council as well that have made it happen that is really a good positive news story isn't it yes perhaps not as convenient because it's not right in the center and you might have to travel out to it but I was saying yesterday to the people at the library opening if you know someone who lives in your village and not just well to wherever it might be you know think about your neighbors and think well I'm going to live through this afternoon I wonder if my neighbor would like to go up to the library I'll give him a lift and. And so that creates another community element as well doesn't it Eric has been in touch Yes I use the community library at the Kill a pinhole beach I used to use the Mobil one until a change to the day from Thursday to Wednesday says Erica thank you do you use your library there was a huge fuss about this wasn't there when there was talk about closing libraries across Lincolnshire to save money now if you were involved in protesting at that time do you use your local library what happened where you live did you manage to keep your library open is it run by volunteers What's it like let me know I popped along yesterday to do the official opening at Welton village library it's actually moved to the man a Park Sports Club on Hack thorn road well from the last time I'd been there was when my sons used to play football many with their youngsters and I remember it being a really cold open field and the wind does not blow there and it was a really wet day the last time I went there it was very pleasant yesterday afternoon and I caught up with some of the volunteers including get Mike but. We really delighted with how many people have come along to see the library and perhaps you as well know what I don't. Just explain the background to it all because of course 10 years ago might even be longer cuts announced of course the library services so what happened in world well in Welton the library sites are being redeveloped in conjunction with the local co-op that was obviously by the County Council at that stage the library was on a lease and the lease was coming to an end in sight actually ended in September of 2070. And when the lease was coming to an end we were struggling to find somewhere to move the Alive. And at that stage then the parish council and they can't account for go. Heads together to provide a new extension to mount a park which is owned by the parish council and this site is on the outskirts of the village so I suppose in some respects there's a little bit of a negative to that the the laundries move from the the village center Yes I mean it's obviously not as central as it was having said that the Philly centuries very busy particular car parking so anyone wanting to park the car in Welton the car park was shared with the co-op 100 health center so that obviously wasn't particularly helpful down here there was plenty of parking but we do appreciate for people walking it can be a bit further but the village is expanding down this way in any case so obviously the hope for new people coming along and using the library as well from the new housing whether today's anything to go by Julie's here plant to the parish council at the 1st thing I see when I come in is it is a selection of laptop computers which I think the parish council provided Yes we provided 5 laptops for public access computers and anyone can come in and use them we have digital champions here by the eyepiece open so if you're not familiar with using a computer they're here to help people so we can learn the basics and then perhaps take those skills home with us that's right and if you're if anyone wants to job search and fill in forms they'll be here to help people do that as well how popular is it having access to computers like this in the community Oh very in the library in the old library we used to have 6 we've only got 5 here but they are well used and people come in use them all the time what does it mean to you as clogs of the parish council seeing the room full today Oh it's lovely lovely turnout you know to see all these people here has made it all worthwhile and Mike just coming back to you what why did you get involved as a volunteer. Well I recently retired and was looking for something to do to help the community and I saw this advertised and started to gain both through that and it's nice that you can meet people who are taking the books out I'm particularly keen on the children's section that we you know encourage youngsters in the village to use books and I think books are gradually return in there was a say. People using the readers but I think books are still there and I you know it's surprising how many people like to read books and I think if we go to the young people to look at books as well as screens that's an excellent thing for the future as well and Julie have you been able to use the equipment that you had in the previous library then yes we've recycled all the shelving from the old library and the children's section is all from the old lobby with a few additional bits that we've added to it and the book stock is exactly the same as it was in the only light retailer a company will alter book so if they aren't actually here psycho make reservations and we can get them in and they can come in and we'll notify them when they're in the coming and Julie Marie clung to the parish council in Welton at the Fischel opening of the new library yesterday I'd like to hear your stories as well about using your local library if you do use it what do you use it for do you go in and use the computers for example. So much of it. I don't know. Good. Week. Ever. I. Believe. If. You would You can believe this kind of trick the rest. Of you. Barry White. Of Your Love To our b.c. So yesterday I was in the village of Welton for the official opening of their new community library moved to the man a Park Sports Club just on the outskirts of Welton there was a lovely spread of food there as I mentioned with Scott this morning I didn't have a cake I had a couple of sandwiches and a cup of tea which is very good as tomorrow is white Last Wednesday a number of people came up to me yesterday and said Big be careful there's a lovely spread of food there what she white Last Wednesday we will certainly do that I'll be announcing the how we've done tomorrow morning with Scott on the Breakfast Show while I was there I was having a chat with several of the volunteers looking round the new library service and I had a chat with one of the volunteers Mike Hubbard and he told me about getting books that they had don't stop all of the time at their particular line. Brick we can order from any library in Lincolnshire and even beyond that if people do want something specialized but we are still part of the Lincolnshire libraries they still use the library cards the stock gets rotated with other libraries and if people come along and want to order a book we can help them do that they can also order books at home by using the internet usenet card on the Internet and have the book delivered here to well to if that's what they want or they can ask for the book to be delivered elsewhere I mean it so I know some people you know if they're going on the bus into Lincoln perhaps using their bus pass order the books and get them from Lincoln central library so it is very flexible in that respect introduced me to some people let's let's sneak in here who is this lady here who's actually sorting books that she's trying to escape from you know that Sandra very astute very sometimes very sharp but she's got cake on the top is this your cake up here Sandra No that's not my kid. So I assume you're a volunteer at the library yes I am what made you volunteer because I just finished work just retired from where can I just always enjoy reading so I thought it was something I would enjoy doing what's lovely is it's a very personal service people can come in and talk to you at the desk. Well in the old lively We used to have a machine in the middle of the room and people could just put the books say in and take the books out by the machine but now we don't have those machines so yeah they do have to come and talk to us which is very nice if you think people might. Yeah they don't mind it and we can recommend books and they can ask about books and yeah I think it's going very well at the moment is it seems to be Mrs a lovely light room this is it's very good very cuddly how much time do you volunteer the only chief to can really Monday from 3 till 6 I mean I'm here today for. Soem for today accounting Tuesday and Wednesday back try and get here on the Monday 3 told. 6 untasted keep up the good work I'm going to sneak to the end here and I'm going to interrupt a conversation that's going on here hello who are you when I send you love do you borrow books from the library Well no after them to join today I have our books before Ok I thought today perhaps I should know which section Can I tempt you with but a crime at the end there or not sure about that no. No no probably no no that's only a bit light hearted I prefer. Trying to try and get one of the one of the volunteers to recommend site Yes Ok thank you and what sort of times is the library open that well it's open 3 days a week it's open from 1 o'clock till 6 o'clock on a Monday 930 till 230 on a Tuesday 10 to one on a Wednesday well remember well you don't have to remember and let's just get more people using the library and I expect you like to see a few more volunteers as well yes we're always looking for volunteers and we're also looking to expand our community hub section and hopefully that will start sometime in the near future when we've got some volunteers for that as well and we aim to have some games cups crib dominos anything that anybody wants to do and hopefully also some demonstrations Kate making cake decorating cooking flower arranging again anything that we can get people to the moment and it was a real pleasure to be there yesterday Welton village library is officially open now and you can pop along to that and I'm just wondering you know do you use your local library not just for ballroom books as Julie mentioned at the end you know hopefully getting various clubs and other organizations involved in that space it's a lovely light airy space that they've got there as well both for the library but also for social activities as well may be you go into your library to use the computers there. A set of 5 computers there that vailable for community access and use but as well as using that perhaps she go into other activities that are just held in the library space or maybe you haven't been into a library for years and you've got no intention of going into a library 152-251-1219 is the number to call. This is Stevie Wonder for once in my life. Let's have some of the Stevie Wonder once in my life. We're going to talk a bit about Parkinson's disease in the news today Neil Diamond is no longer going to talk because of his Parkinson's and was a couple of days ago I saw David Kidd Jensen The deejay sixty's now isn't he and he announced that he got Parkinson's and I think you've been diagnosed with Parkinson's about 5 years ago but never really spoken about it took quite recently and obviously I've mentioned this before on the radio my mom had Parkinson's and my dad's partner now has Parkinson's as well. So it is something that we are talking a bit more about the sort of conditions but I'd like to know from you what it's like to live with Parkinson's if you live with yourself or your partner lives with Parkinson's and let me know this morning 152-2511 at 2 online libraries Steve is in Sutton on see and volunteers at the library Steve morning morning tomorrow when I say from here what made you get involved as a volunteer at the library then. Years ago this was before it for a link to a county council stopped at the pilot flying to get rid of life or it. Volunteers were brought in because of previous cuts whether it reduced the amount of opening so we formed a volunteer group we worked alongside professional librarians to open an extra tight to make up for the cut up time and when the cuts came in 23 years ago were you able to stay in your same location what happened. Yeah well the volunteers formed say I say. Now on thing the community of the library. And we keep it open 3 days 3 days a week now for days weeks or any Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday and well attended . Yes In fact I believe the takers are actually the focal figures are increasing. Because we are doing things that a lot of research this could have done if they were given the leach to do it for oppression or and. All this business about. It could have been done under the library system with the professionals it was just the reluctance to do that. Can I give a big shout out to the professional librarians out there we did fight hard to keep it as it was but it didn't have a big shout out to the volunteers is that as well because I find vitally important to have a library system and linkage is lucky that it's got volunteers who have stepped in the breach Yeah it was interesting talking to Julie Welch and yesterday and she was saying you know they want to really increase on the hub side of things so using the library space for of the things you know people who have got hobbies and interests using that space against people at least in the library in that environment doesn't it absolutely I made this is what say libraries in price the community hub side of it we have groups ranging from staying in. Breeders poets also using the library spice and
