Pretending to be a Christmas tree by the way my Christmas yoga today will be a tree but with will send that out in a minute our expert in the 10 o'clock hour is consultant dietician Catherine Collins So she's here to help you with your nutritional and tree concerns so if you needed vice on pushing into your body if you have intolerances reactions to certain foods call in or e-mail Nicky. And I double K. I at B.B.C. . The only thing Catherine is intolerant to medical health and nutrition claims so this is the time of year isn't that when it gets so wintery and we start to change our diets we don't want salads anymore. It's the month when we probably socialize a lot more than we normally do tis the season to be jolly and an awful lot of alcohol rich food maybe you just need some sound advice on how to eat for your healthiest life whatever it is she's here for you from 10 and then it's movies after 11 Beth Webb is coming in to review the week's big films. So we support the the old the gum want boy Rick and on home relays the mag that's not all the wonderful and utterly hilarious comedians. Coming in to talk about her show some dialogue now that has a run at the SO who theatre in January I love she makes me laugh the moment she opens her mouth seriously her take on having children all on a Danish husband and just in general the way she sees life very very funny you might already know her from her show on radio a fall. Sindhu stone and he says she's coming just. Going to start in a slightly different way actually I know that normally it's all about taking the guilty pleasure of listening and playing cheesy choose but as it's Christmas coming up. As I like to call it because we celebrate all types of celebration and religion and it's 100 it might be easy it might be all kinds of all the things that you celebrate so in my family it was always a mixture of everything for every denomination and we generally play you this big cheesy chain and celebrate it but it's Christmas time isn't it so let's play a little bit Kinko. With. I have a. I want for Christmas is my. To. Give I have my 2 front teeth. Gosh. That's cheating was actually chasten by Lucy Berrisford who normally demands Barry Manilow for our cheesy morning a very Christmassy So how are you. Welcome welcome welcome happy mishmash thank you say macho I know some people get offended when I say mishmash at this time of the of what they will because I think they think that I'm not taking Christmas seriously or I'm not being I think you're taking credit he said well yes I also I would like to be inclusive thoughts that so that time of year where people starts to talk about the Christmas preparations and possibly get stressed out by a nightly stress I think a lot of people get really quite neurotic. Because they imagine that they've got to create the perfect Christmas that we see the perfect Korea's Christmas around us everywhere on T.V. Ads window dress displays of what everybody could be wearing or how you should be cooking your mail all of those magazines supplements about the perfect Christmas table and actually it just creates that stress that you don't need so if you can if you can stand up to if you can withstand it then so much the better but it's relentless I I do for the 1st time because I'm not working over Christmas this year I do feel slightly like it's the festive season and all the Christmas lights suddenly really appeal to me a lot more than they ever had and all the Christmas windows are and I wrote some Christmas calends one I have to admit did say just bar humbug on the front and that will be the one that stands out on someone's mantel piece talk about Christmas cards because in I think it's the Mail on Sunday Alexandra Shulman has written and she was the editor of Vogue was. Recently departed from from that publication but she has a column in The Mail on Sunday and she has talked about how if you don't really pay that much courtesy in your Christmas card to her yeah it will just be dropped in the bin so what does she mean by that what what what does she consider courtesy so what she wants to know is that you have chosen the card and addressed it and thought about her and her family when you were actually writing the cards or if you just sort of almost like a conveyor belt sign a kayak part it's a sign it but nothing else it doesn't even say a day Alexander or it wouldn't say in your car you know day and he or me daily see she she does want to know she doesn't want a kind of manufactured chain processed Christmas card she wants to feel that there's some proper connection and I must admit when I write a Christmas card I always personalize it not I just got one for you and I know you to yes we use that lever. And by the time I write it I write things in it that already only relevant to the person that I'm writing to yeah to prove you know this is I'm saying I'm saying you know all of you and I often I mean I'm I am not because my husband's birthday is in November I'm banned from buying Christmas cards before his birthday which seems a reasonable I suppose but then you know the very next day I'm out there and I love choosing cards that I think are appropriate for people that I think they will like I'm not one of these people that buys you know 100 off the saying card and just send it to it so I take quite a lot of care and I think Alexander is right that there will be a pile of calls that we will all get and we'll I think what wife he sent this to me I don't know it's the question I want to know from you this. At what point are you allowed to not send a Christmas card to someone that you haven't seen for years although what is the point. Person is educated I mean the other thing that I've noticed is that so many people now do not send cards and I'm fine with that but I do they send cards that in style say often I just want to know that they're thinking of move off just find that annoying and I mean as it is I don't like trash everything I possibly can I get an email and I think this is might have a virus in it so I just kind of did eat it without opening it and you know a conscious A We've all seen the little Make yourself an elf Elf Yourself things I'm really bored of those letters you know those little animations but I I really don't know the answer to the C.I. But I sent you one in those years you just keep sending each other calls but you don't see each other and then there's the line that says so you looking forward to seeing you in the 201220132 the 14th and you said you have and haven't and it's not like they live in you know somewhere north of Watford they live within zone one and 2 so I'm going to be able to see each other but I don't think I will put my psychotherapist head on like I have one here and I'll just say socially prune them whatever it is cut them out of your life and then I guess I am I I'm wondering why am I saying this person a card eunuchs I'm not telling them necessarily anything about my life it doesn't have a round robin letter in it which is a whole other show how do you feel about Round Robins Funnily enough I've got one school friend who sends one and I absolutely love it but he said he basically keeps you up to date Yeah and also she writes so beautifully about the lovely things that she and her husband have done and some studies she's been doing and she's she's now an artist and I love her. So I think I get the letter and I just adore finding out about her life but I think there are a lot of people who are who you do kind of bang on about you know Little Johnny's clarinet examiner. No this is already so yeah the question I would love to know is what do people do about Christmas cards do they annually send you know about calls to people that they never see I know that someone's going to get in touch and say they'll phone in and say what but that's how we stay in touch with people I know and so it will be interesting to know whether that's enough to stay in touch whether it just solves your conscience or whether you've always just been brought up to do that but the other thing that gets me because I do believe in being mindful and I know mindfulness has become one of these really annoying words but it's a word that I have used for all my life and that is be Zen like about whatever you're doing whether it is writing a card to make sure that you're in that moment you're actually talking to that person or you're peeling your potatoes whatever it may be but if you you know when you hear people say. I've got all my Christmas cards Donna so really well if it's that much of a chore don't leave rethinking this you know it should be a pleasure yeah and I get I think your suggestion to kind of strip it bare so that really is the people that you want to be communicating with there are definitely a few people this year where I'm sort of thinking well neither side has made that much and has made any effort at all this year to be in touch to see each other so actually a car does a card matter does it make a difference I don't know well Lucy a lot of people listen to B.B.C. Radio London you may just publicly shamed whoever they are anyway I felt listening that maybe they'd like to send me a card Yes I'm right something special in it Claire is meaningful in her starting that's a really good point well if you are listening and you have a take on Christmas cards and messages and the way they're written and how you receive them do let us know and in fact in general if you want to talk about Christmas you heard what Lucy just said that if you can really stand up to it and stop the hustle and the stress and the newer osis I want to hear from you maybe you found ways to streamline Christmas and remove some of those worries Let's talk about that because it is the 9th of December it's OK to talk. Give us a call 807312000 if you want to text us the digits 81 triple 3 you need to write London at the beginning of the message and if you emailing it simply Nicky and I double K. I at B.B.C. Doc had a social media it's at B.B.C. Radio London what have you found in the papers so well the 1st thing to say is that there is there are only 2 main stories in all of the papers which is either Breck said Yeah and of bricks at a go go at the moment because of course of you know the potential for this vote on Tuesday which some papers are now saying might be postponed so it's kind of watch this space I know I feel slightly This is getting so out of control that. I I don't even know whether it's worth trying to stay up to speed because they'll just decide what they decide regardless or it's reality it's strictly and celeb I'm a celebrity so those 2 programs are kind of vying for the front pages on pretty much all of the tabloids so I thought we'd. Dive inside could be that the inside. Pages there's quite a cute little they were talking about how to survive Christmas yeah there's an interview with 2 reason may is. The Mira I think it might be them are actually and she is talking about how she gets through various parts of her life of you she's a rather busy lady with lots going on I have to can this is her quoted now I have to confess my indulgence is a spoonful of peanut butter now where I take issue with this that was true she would know that one spoonful is never a lariat I'm afraid as someone who is actually can I be a bit kind of foodie about it hazel nut butter is the way to go but I have a real thing about Hazel not butter and one teaspoon is not enough it's a once a tablespoon 1. 1 teaspoon is not enough. Well I see so peanut butter is really good for you if it's good peanut butter is full of sugar and salt obviously you have to look at that but the other thing is I learned this is Trivial Pursuit question what is the word for the fear of peanut butter sticking to the top of your mouth there is a fair Yeah it's called a racket Butros phobia Honestly I've never forgotten this because I think the way it's posed in Trivial Pursuit is what what is Iraq a breach of faith phobia a fear of and when you read Iraqi media think of it must pay by Despite is exactly skin look out. Just to check up got it right. But I don't know. I think I can have spin fals of peanut butter I like it on something here we go. Is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth you know the word is a rocky and in Greek meaning ground not phobia rather say but what is Why would people have a fear of that because that is a lovely finished your mouthful you then discover there's a little bit more and. That's a Larry's I could do that with honey but not with peanut butter so if that's her only treat in life I see it makes me think she's question or stay here personally that that is what we saw heard about the running through the fields of wheat you know done anything naughty this is someone who is so. Admirable in her sense of discipline and. An almost forensic focus yet on the task in hand that I think that's what people are turning to her for it's not so much that they like any of her ideas or policies I think most people a lot of people don't but they they are so in or of her diligence and focus and. Inability to be distracted by anything like. Naughtiness all vices or anything but there's another insight in that piece for me anyway which is the interviewer has asked her something to do you know do you have night to mez and she said if I woke up in bed and went. You know security detail would be rushing into the bedroom matter living a life like that so does that imply there outside her door outside the door no presumably Yes what we saw on the bodyguard was surely true well bits of here now cover on. The program that was. That would be to have those people shadowing your life for the whole time I wonder whether you get to the point where you actually don't. Recognize that that you do you know in the beginning you're like hyper conscious of what you might be saying and very self-aware but also you know after a few days of it maybe you're just thinking well I shouldn't really care what they hear what they what they limps of my life when when I 1st moved to India as a 20 year old young married woman to live in my house my home ah you didn't know how to manage servants I had been and that's what they're called in India now card so I had obviously grown up going to India staying with my Indian side of the family and the stuff that but the stuff in my own of the time didn't really would be difficult initially but you do get used to having people around you and I don't mean Oh yeah of course you do like you might get used to somebody breaking your teeth I mean just having somebody constantly in your home he was in your family who isn't your partner so maybe it is maybe easier than you yeah imagine if you were royalty and our current. We are going to talk about the royals in a Miami. Because of all this Kate verses you know Meg and stuff I just can't believe it exists but yes as you say we will too we will talk about that I'm going to play a bit of Katy Perry before. Katy Perry. B.B.C. Radio London with Lucy Berrisford going to those Sunday papers headlines and travel He's Ross right and. London's headlines good morning police in New Zealand say they think they found the body of the murdered British backpacker grace my lane she was 22 and had been travelling alone in the country for 2 weeks before she disappeared in just over a week ago a 26 year old man has been charged with murder and is due to appear in court tomorrow.
