Here's Sarah. Still busy still looking heavy around you at full council data towards the Beaumont cross junction and is also a little bit slow traffic around when sold on the northbound I want it just as heavy up to the Lincoln right towards New York showground but there's no current reports of any problems there motorway traffic for the moment is so moving OK so the M one looks fine 3 the road works at Junction 25 we just have no doubt about the trans was briefly a power issue which suspended all 7 says but we have just had an update to say that trams on out running straight I'm sorry to let you know X. Travel is a half an hour. Dennis a B.B.C. Radio sing and. I The time. That's why. This morning for the Sport Relief walk. Many steps with a level up in just a minute already we have a way we have a split in the group some people have gone straight down to the like we've bypassed a little bit. And we've come to the animal craze now this is one of their the Rivera's bits of rough and I think that whenever you mention rough it people will talk about the water splashed they'll talk about the Lake of course talk about the abbey they may well mention the ice house and they may well mention the animal graves as well so we walk down from the car park and the 1st stop is among the trees it's a nice bit a shelter actually from the hot sunshine Labor warm it is Linda Hardy is still here historian a friend or if it and she's filling you win as we go with with some of the stories behind some of these different spots around RUSSERT So Linda give us a background I mean animal grace obviously we know what they are why are they here well they were featured quite a lot of the large country houses and we all of our pets don't mark and are huge except just now Oscar but they were no exception they had dogs in the house they had various pets and they love them so when they died they commemorated them in places like this and I think everyone's really interested to see these I love particularly this one here this is to Snuffy the dogs well let's have a little closer look because it is interesting because a lot of them have railings around and the fact that they have headstones they do like see a great yeah a lot of people might think oh no no no you know blow me up I've lost pets and it hurts like hell but to actually have a headstone for them so this is obviously some of the people that lived rough and higher high falutin people this is the Savile family who were the hasta Kratz who own drifted into 938 and they did they were very fond of animals and they had these treasured pets and this is how they chose to commemorate them and they even actually buried a racehorse here and if you know ma but over here we have the gravestone of criminal on and he was a Darby winner Oh so that's a racehorse I read just what was buried there yes and he was oh my Captain Henry Savile who bred resources and won a lot of money on them actually Cremona won a lot of money for him and so he commemorates him by having the horse. Right here in Yemen graves on the date on there you can still make out the the name and the date as well 872 and that's obviously there I was wondering why that was a larger plot if you like and here we are you mention this is this is one of your. Favorite in a way but this it will talk us through the history here because again an old gravestone the humane cat the inscription on that yet so that was 887 this was a pet obviously of the civil family one of the daughters of the Savile family and I just love the name Snuffy the dog you can just imagine him can't you but there are lots of other interesting ones you've got Zarina over here and we've got ball Ray sees another favorite of mine and the lovely inscription a faithful friend is hard to find. You fill me up here I know. So Cal says lies Keyser pretend I not an L. So Kai's the pet dog MISS L. There is that name again it is several lonely. And the date is 1887 as you mentioned there Snuffy on there as well. So these go back to you know late 19th century what about that is that more or less when they stop. These The old this or other even more how many of them oh well this was a popular feature of the country as at this particular time I mean there are other graves that riff and actually in fact some of the subtle family were buried at Rufford just over there in the family graveyard but the bodies were actually moved when the house became when they there's several family left rough and happy and so they're actually there was still churchyard now but they were here so and I have gotten a hold account of a state worker she helped to bury loads of all the locks Lord Savile to live here over in the family graveyard there so pets and the family were buried in the grounds right OK Well thank you for the history lesson I think that's enough death now we are. Move on we're going to keep strolling we'll have tools to like we go that way I feel like I should have a brawly and take the register we didn't do it did he do a head count got to have counsel I think somewhere that's the count 123-4560 OK I was like I can make a wager counting on the hoof Palm Beach County I'll know her if it's a Also you know I did. A fill in and everything. In appropriate song to play straight and that will cope with the loss of life because we will conclude it's B.B.C. Ready and I'll see him for Sport Relief. Cut The sky strikes on the wall. We doing our Sport Relief walk on the A.B.C. Radio this morning so as I mentioned before the risks the S'pore even if you're not on the war today you can still download the app it's free to download and the idea is like a lot of these other devices and gadgets you can get these days it means that you can keep an eye on how many steps that you get I think I've mentioned this before some of the 1st conversations that Mrs Day and I have after work every afternoon right about tea time is the usual stuff stuff because what are so important emotional kind of you know how's your day darling very good how are you all of that yet but we also how many sets have you done and we're not alone in this I know from talking to other people so any way to basically make more of that the big push this year for Sport Relief is counting your steps and the target each day on the run up to the big day on telly tomorrow B.B.C. World Sport Relief to do a 1000000000 steps collectively as a country should be doable surely I'm looking at my little lap here and the running total right now for the whole of the U.K. 64000000 166377 hate Haiti and so the list goes on my own steps just over 2000 pretty poor but we are strolling around the lake so we've made our way from Rufford we started just by the car park by the courtyard really and then down to the animal graves as you heard a few months ago and we are now circling the lake which looks in this weather just absolutely beautiful before 11 o'clock we'll head towards the ice house another of those famous bits of refer to you may well be aware of and also a lot of people talk about the fall in the water splash as another highlight the only thing is as well as being a highlight can be a low light if you take it too fast or if the water is really high you can come across or so more about that and. Hopefully preventing you coming across but you'll hear more about that shortly after 1030 this morning so let me just have a look back at our happy band of what are you and it is a happy band this well got we got literally people here with us on the walk What's your name and I am Sandra Well it's a very nice to see Santa and whereabouts have you come from you this morning is lovely I've come from while space or one of the surrounding villages and I just to run but how often do you come to Rufford would you say seeing as you're so close I used to come very frequently but however. I don't come as often as I used today but having revisited today after a long time I think through this spring and summer. Spend a little better at time here yeah having some enjoyable Orks less that's really good to hear I suppose it is often the case isn't it when something is really right on your doorstep sometimes it's so close you're almost forget it's here and there it is a real it's a real gem isn't it rough it is absolutely and you do forget. You know when we probably need to prompt just house more often to and they have the flare countryside that we have here and these beautiful parks read. Well enjoy your stroll and just admiring the wildlife as well we've talked about this earlier on with 80 so quite a few ducks in the lake see some swans over in the distance as well we've spotted some squirrel haven't yet heard any woodpeckers but I hear they are here so maybe we might have to have in Iraq and after a moment's silence a bit later on we can build that into the private have a woodpecker moment we could have a good morning every morning some people go in the opposite way they're going that's fine it's all part of the stroll you can you know there are no rules to that was a saying yeah we can maybe have a treat of the day or someone does it already and I different radio station done it anyway more from here if it is we continue our walk around with almost reached one corner of the lake the one that has a little chalet for refreshments and all the time for a brew I think B.B.C. Ready and I see this is John Lennon 1st with. a I don't. Want to say oh he's going to this is what. Ken Bruce listening to you know. How would you know really what are you doing. Now it goes quiet that's all I need. To you is. Punk So yeah we've got. A very. Coming after me now is not happy the doc says Well some say. It's well in this end of the lake so busy busy we're going to have been gang of strollers as well. Gathered here I do feel like a bit like an arc ala from the scouts. Just from the kind of corral everyone all together but everything seems to be happy enough so far I've actually seen is that you were talking about all of the bird life earlier as well do you ever have to do any kind of bird count at all or do you just you know impossible in lots of ways and you know it is impossible to deal with and while bears we don't count to many things we do have a lot of questions on how do you collect them in an evening. How do you collect them in the evening well we don't. Now the well bears a come and go as they please. The they do what they like people are to feed them so they do stay here what we do like to ask is people not to feed them bread you know I was going to ask about that I heard that on the on the old wildlife great find why not right because the swells up in the stomach and it's not very good for them for the digestive system so what we do light stays if you going to come to feed all the wildlife please please bring see. Any bird feeder so long as it's not bread so your regular feed seed as you would put out in the garden for that would be alright would it yeah that would be fine that's got all the nutrients and everything well if you because we're being wild birds that's fine for them. And of course the other thing I guess is that we've already seen a few squirrels up in the woods some don't we've got a few dogs on the wall I should say they are all being well behaved because the rule on leash but that's the other thing to be aware of I suppose isn't it people with dogs because dogs like to chase Yes they do but we do ask people to keep their dogs on leads on the park. We don't allow the dogs to roam free on the part because of the wildlife and chasing the bears and stuff so it is a policy that if you come in to bring your dog for a walk please keep them on the lead and on the control. There either agreeing with you or they're taking issue with going on dates or kicking off we've got a goose incident here. Where I was is because it was some of them being fed the falling out of the thing is this a common thing yes it's very commonly given a very feisty this time of year telling me the fight. Trying to do a radio show yeah. Sorry you were saying yeah the very feisty this time of year. Breeding season. Where it's yeah is there's lots of noise and lots of fights going on. Or little or calm down in the next month or so no one tell me it's breeding season that explains an awful lot there's no all right eyes left everyone eyes left a void a void thank you waited for that. Sort of turn on you today because they can but if people talk about peace and sometimes ones get quite feisty The they can do but not normally normally they will just they will just run away. The the the quite tame to be fair for what for a while because people call me regular feeding them and that so they used to people their lonely probably just turn on you if if you try and chase them down and stuff well powerful not now they're really friendly around there quite often feed in a way feed me and so I've never been. So reassuring I want to stand with you OK thank you very much a quick chat with some other walkers What's your name Sir Mark and where our good name where you from on the road OK I see you've brought a backpack is this Nick in there oh so many. Christians of us all right just fine OK let's just bring the store from the van How do you mean food yeah those are all the poor things were right now all right Mr observant Oh yeah I noticed you had some snap you haven't brought it with private party and who is here with you was just a hello Jane good to see you how are you enjoying the work so far. Radio. On the news headlines this morning independent inspectors say Nazi and should police is improving when it comes to investigating crime and keeping vulnerable people safe employees have held a minute's silence to remember those who died in the Westminster terror attack a year ago today and a parent is calling for an Eastwood school to rethink a new uniform policy for girls.
