Scary. Thank you very much indeed so we think that's pretty it's about thank you for all your intimate performance stories we're doing this in the show today because the join his arms and Southampton is celebrating 50 years of live music and as the guys who run it they say you know it's a really intimate venue where you get involved in the performances I want to hear your intimate performances then there's a lot of them coming in. To my best experience of an intimate performance was many years ago when the country was celebrating the 40th anniversary of the end of World War 2 Why now. Traveling performance around key points in Southampton where the actors would react to significant happening during the war we were all part of it we had to March around the Titanic memorial we were taken into a dungeon in the city walls as an air raid shelter where we ate spag mashed potatoes whilst a very realistic air raid took place we were transported around the city in an old city bus with Winston Churchill as a conductor delivering the wartime news Hillary that is definitely an intimate experience is a good story as well thank you very mailing Julian Clegg a b c dot ca to you Kate if you were listening just for 8 o'clock you won't have heard the great story of golden Gill truck the guitar is playing in the library there in Haven't these are good stories I'm loving them keep on coming your intimate performance stories please 183-453-0396 extension 1 e-mail chilling click at b.b.c. B.b.c. Radio waves Gillian. So welcome back and welcome along indeed and this morning we're talking about a newsmaker story where suddenly snow island is making the news this morning because local people living near a row bridge that crosses the Waterloo railway line Eastley say it is an accident waiting to happen the Campbell Road Bridge links 150 houses in a huge industrial state to the town center have it's been struck on numerous occasions by trying to cross it leaving a series of gaps and breaches in the structure. Network releve carried out repairs but guess what's this is the last time I came on the air to tell us it was not looking good 18 months ago the repairs keep getting knocked down again by struggling to cross the bridge I'm sure voltage or power isn't easily this morning we resident John Davis and also on the news making line Tony who is a lorry driver who uses the bridge Let's go to Joe 1st of all so Joe just explain why you know here we are again almost 18 months. Old Let's try that said Joe destroy the job let's try that again sorry we had a problem with that the line just explain why we are here again 18 months old. Well there is a fundamental issue a challenge with the railway bridge itself it went up in $906.00 and it's basically a very sharp s. Bend a don't like bridge so you approach it on a very steep gradient you have to then take a very sharp left go over the bridge and take a very sharp right and I'm duffing my cap to Tony who I know we're going to hear from in a moment because actually those large lorries the large h.g.v. S. When they make that turn they have no more than an inch of space to play with to get across that bridge safely The challenge is Bane many lorry drivers not necessarily the big ones but those who want experienced crossing it have knocked and clipped and chips the bridge and the repairs of the bridge hence we're back 18 months later and it's caused breaches in the railings there's holes there's gaps De Pree could easily fall down on to the track and what residents here are really beyond concerned about is that at one point a vehicle itself might go over just staying there will come to John at the moment I want to bring in Tony who is a lorry driver who got in touch this morning very mellow said Tony good morning the morning Jill so tell me about your experience of this bridge of people listening further afield we don't know East me very well why is that a bit of a nightmare to put it bluntly judging by your email getting a round around the roads. Because. The bridges are sorry Jagger you've got probably just off the mode and very sharp left turn to go over the bridge and you have to literally be what every other part of the road take it is wider possible with no actually inches to spare and then you get around the just a bracket round the bridge to the left and then once across the very very very equally shot to the right to get into Campbell were you know a little camp really is 21 of the trickiest forwards going over as you do is to see the joy of a. Go. If you get very old and you've heard them you heard I am going other resident coming up do you think it's a major instant weight you know happen. Well I think all the damage on the face of such a close that we don't enjoy having a nice. Experience well with the. Younger job experience. So I mean I'll be blunt looking at the damage myself from pictures yesterday and this morning could we get a lorry get it wrong and go over the edge. Of the About got a. Little. Bit of the grades. Possible right Ok Will attorney thank you for adding in is really good that you come on because it makes all the difference to the story so we can hear it from you all saw it as well. Have been to a lot of people are not the Gulf. You know ran a. Few times Ok well how do you thank you for that and if my wife's listening oh yes that will be Tony I know him good to have you on the show tonight in showing that just joining us this morning is this all a family affair as well. Back to you and indeed to John he's alongside you so John I suspect hearing Tony talking about that because it makes you think well that the Dr is having difficulty with it. Yeah good morning Julian quite right I know no I'm not imagining things we know the drivers must be you know how to fight it having to do this maneuver and it's not only clipping it to be honest with you I've been there when the bridges being closed full several hours because someone's actually got stuck on the parapets and they weren't allowed to move until Network Rail came and inspected it to make sure there wasn't more damage so it's not just damaging it's actually getting stuck on the bridge Yeah I mean the things that crossing my mind I mean today it could dead brief full on the railway line which is one thought what do you think. Definitely Deborah has fallen on the railway line some protective heras fencing there precisely because of the bridge parapets was clipped and it fell on to the railway line Thank goodness there wasn't a train coming imminently but they had to clear that up and the fencing is there to protect us right on the really dangerous corner and John I mean we're saying it's an accident waiting to happen that's an off used phrase in the media these days but you know what kind of accident do you think we could be talking about. Well it's an accident that has happened never mind waiting to happen in that it's mind the worst thing that I could think of is in terms of accidents some rubble fall and when a train is coming along and you just don't want to think about that but. It's not just accident if something gets stuck when an emergency vehicle needs to get in or out you can get stuck in Campbell Road or you can get stuck out of Campbell Road fire engine. A neighbor of ours is an emergency a 1st emergency attend and he has actually said that once he was going to call and he couldn't get out so they had to transfer the call to somebody else Ok doctor that's really good point Joe just to come back to you what. Indeed have she County Council saying about this. Well residence is stuck between a rock and a whole place here because this problem could be solved overnight by bringing in a white restriction on the bridge and that's the responsibility of them she can't council because they're responsible for the rope service now they say that while this sympathetic to residents concerns Network Rail have reassured them that there's no structural issues with the bridge which would justify weight restrictions so they're saying no to the white restriction Meanwhile residents here are saying let's get a better approach then let's get something more than that and network readily saying to us that safety is their number one priority that they've carried out previous works they realise those works are now damaged and they will come out again they say they're going to carry on working with the local authority to try and tackle the issue and this is why there's been a slight move they say that replacing the bridge would be costly in complex and take a number of years to plan and deliver but this is what that they would potentially consider over the next 5 years where we should say it hasn't got away clearly from 18 months ago since we lost it John thank you for coming on the show as well enjoy Palmer thank you as well and obviously if you're a lorry driver or local resident and you want to add further to that you can get in touch by sending me an email Julian Clegg a b.b.c. Documentary k o calling 345303961 look thank you for all your calls and stories so far on intimate performances what a morning we are having producer Mike joining me from our phone and interactive area to thank you for that because it's been great has some great stories coming here are a lot a lot of very powerful ad says I think Gil truck play hot song but behind the price that's just amazing before 8 o'clock so we want more of that my whole sense what you want to hear from people with their thoughts on June is here because our other funny we're going to run today which is flight to going back would you go back and I know you were on the show producing the day when the awful incident happened because I was away on holiday at the time and over here and seeing the story that ghastly terrible tragedy on the beach in Tunisia now we report this morning that flights are going back to come believe it's almost 3 years ago. This Catalans when the gunman killed 38 people 30 of them British of course on that beach in Seuss' in 2015 and in terms of the effect that's had on what has been one of the major holiday destinations for British tourists over the years just to put it this in context go back to 2014 years you had 430000 visitors each year from Britain last year that number down to 28 houses and that the not all of that as also be the fact that those tourists go elsewhere and with the people worried about going to Egypt as well it's seen an extraordinary increase of people going to other European countries like Spain and yachts and of course that's put pressures on those places where they feel some are saying there are too many tourists so this is a big big moment we want to hear what people think about this and whether they would go back that well that's right because I can remember Funnily enough a few weeks after the attack it we did a phone in about you know have you changed your travel plans for your holidays thinking about Egypt thinking action is here of course but of course Thomas Cook taking these 1st trips across this way lots of talk about how persons work hard to try to help him improve security counterterrorism detectives from the Metropolitan Police actually working with hotel staff intern is here to train them to know what signs to look for how to respond so lots done to improve people's confidence and this is the litmus test now I guess and we want to hear what you have to say this one is a Do let us know for a moment Mike thank you very much indeed I want to know would you go back to Tunisia and do these kind of societal security reassurances reassure you 345303961 is my phone number to join in on that text the word Solon's I want trouble 3 emerging Clegg a b c dot com Also if you work in.
