RINGBACK Thank you. For our Saturday morning. B.b.c. Radio star Good morning Friday October the 4th that was the police and Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic Stewart for Perry for the next couple of hours top of the parts to come at 1130 age and your stories relating to a couple of things like 1st of all the thing in the news you may have heard Tim talking about John talking about the breakfast show today about we're paying too much for our insurance if you don't shop around you are going to be paying more for your car insurance more for your home insurance than you might imagine we had the most ridiculous quote for a house insurance couple years ago we say used about 700 pounds by not renewing our house insurance we did insure the house and we got a better level of cover but it's just ridiculous it pays to shop around we'll talk about that in half an hour or so 1st I want to talk about stuff in your loft because a couple of us have had to have the really an enviable task of going through stuff . Our parents homes when our parents passed away lost my mom last year producing today last year that yeah last year last year and so you've been going through a loft my mom and dad loft What was nothing to that loft but the bedroom Oh my word well I've jokingly been saying to my mom and dad because for years I didn't want loft insulation and I said to moment you don't need loft insulation because it's that much fun a junk that's doing the job for itself in mom's house going to be a lot colder and you need to get sloppy insulation Lots of like what was up there then what did you find well I found a cricket score board Yeah like a big big I think it's a lot it's a fair size what did it was into cricket No it wasn't a cricket the favorite one I found was this collector jumbled collection of bits of what So I was trying to drag that out of drugs and I said to Mum's I've got some random bits of what coming down as 100 them down to 0 your dad's easel was into art knows no pain in his life and the other one that was sort of came across this old sort of looking box Well that was this seems quite old opened it up and it was an accordion so I went I've got an accordion here oh yeah that was your dad's was the into music player only accordion no no apparently a bloke down the pub owed him some money and that's all he got on him at the time so we didn't you know love the accordion so go figure. Yeah why not that is we it here now it's just a load of books I found all my old toys from the eighty's found Castle Grayskull the escalator in there no he's in a separate box Ok yeah there's a lot I'm halfway through but there still are found to be an x. How did. I know it's probably some money in this let's find out Andrew Hilditch is from Andrew Hilditch and some in some but should know something about clearing out folks I was this morning Andro high as I say tell me how hard Tom this is Tell man drew from Andrew Hilditch and son of a Texan fuse everybody doesn't really matter just happens with may as well yeah but having the 2 1st nines nobody knows what you call Exactly that's it yes that's home you go around clearing out people's houses what kind of things have you found rats and rubbish Ok no we find a job you've got absolutely but it's when you come into contact with rats it's not particularly nice we cleared a garage quite a while back and we were in the middle of moving things like. Cases of whiskey and old propellers and all kinds of rubbish and then my one of my workers gets suspended for. He does nothing about it for weeks and eventually it gets set to take and we have to get him into flippin hospital a.s.a.p. Parties nor seasonality about it and I guess we'll disease he dies on the operating table then they bring him back to Luckily it's a light pulse is one of the hospitals. Really careful what we say. Than I hate to put that one whichever hospital it may or may not be that I know I know but the disease you mention that way you that is from Robert on believable how many times we come into contact with with rats we did. I say in order them I got a year ago and it was sad doctors they were all doctors all found my family interesting and I said it is nice to see such a lovely clean house etc God is all locked up and so I said to him we won't have a problem with rats here I know we opened the garage and started to look through my God but other field day they're everywhere he needs saying but well they they went that they go on Luckily we very rarely see them but but you'd be surprised how many times we come into contact with them is in correctable So aside from the rocks and rubbish what about some of the good stuff you do you want to them treasure it is almost time flew today as we find. Lots of metals 1st well 2nd world war sometimes. We find. We will find the source stuff in the can or should people of as you say put all the junk in the loft or let's put it in the outbuildings or they put it in the carriage and so that's where you can assign the retro stuffs. The vintage stuff. Not quite a while ago spends time flies you see some been doing this since 977 has it changed much or you still finding the same kind of stuff oh my goodness me it's changed when I started in 1977 with Salma How can a bedroom suite excellent super inlaid technique wonderful quality for 150 pounds that was a lot of money now that same thing I'm lucky if I can sell it Grandfather Clock 772-0308 was a really good 1400 pounds. 99598 you'd get 15 to 2 and a half 1000 pounds for that and now you are lucky to get 150 pounds over Iraq Ya know the fact is what actually is and what what are you finding that's worth acquittal to I knew you'd asked about well everything has its value. So but you just got to it's just relative to the fashion at the present time. Much market for math accordion. Depends what it is expensive works they're kind of accordion Yeah a consonant has a rock in things yeah they make between 40 and 100 pounds you might see one on line 4 by now 300 pounds but they're just trying it on. The Internet and that's the true value Ok so the stuff that is really valuable What's the most valuable thing you've uncovered in the last 40 years of doing it my wife's and all. Lost or garridge Yes. They shortened the sale room oh really yes I was lucky wasn't it and then I employed that was my sneaky idea getting hold of. It and then we married that later on fantastic Yes Great still to this morning thanks so much for coming on yes sure any time you speak again soon I find this all fascinating I love stuff like salvage hunters and these things where they go through people's loft and all on the t.v. I love it. From Andrew Hilditch and some. Of. Your stories then things you found in your loft in your shed and if you got that building in your outbuildings 801218080 I found something and I couldn't decide when to pull the Magli but I have seen maybe 1st times that have a bought. Little Cottage thing and a bolted and we found things in the loft that the previous owner had left. And it left us with a bit of a. Bit of a conundrum as to what to do with it. And it made me shiver and it wasn't to write. More of my in the moment your stories to. Be. Like. Don't. Like. The. That was to. Get. A. B.b.c. Radio. And juice in the news this morning former Conservative leadership come to that Rory Stewart says he'll stand down at the next election he's also announced he has resigned from the Conservative Party he was one of those expelled from the conservatives in the Commons along with 20 others but had remained in the party he said you'd be aware I'm no longer allowed to run as a conservative m.p. Student receives Radio Stoke. 0801 c 188 my number this morning what have you put in your loft and what have you found in your loft. Slightly scary stuff when we bought our house in May which would have been getting on for 20 years ago now. A little cottage as I say and it's been left by someone who's actually moved into a care home so how do you have a watch Homes Under The Hammer and things like that you know you look at these places and it well it means redecorating I'm not sure I particularly like the bright orange patent carpet in the back that was fine you know we paid the price accordingly it was a couple of years after we lived in there we have the survey done it was an old house with a survey done and all the rest of it no issues to worry about in terms of the structure of the roof and all that on the roof tiles and no wood worm as such to speak of a couple of years after we'd moved in there we went up into the loft and had a proper poke around you know you stick your head up through the hatch you get the dodgy latter and stick your head up through the hatch in that yeah it's all right a couple of birds nesting but nothing too much to worry about I went up there and found what can only describe the trunk of an elephant but a big box you know and then like a coma wife you got to come up here and see this and then it's do we open it was unlocked while let's not look at the trunk let's look at the desk that's up here for us why would you have a desk in the loft with no electric no lighting all that was up there was this trunk a desk and the water tank the expect there to be we're in the desk it was quite clear that someone who lived in the house used to have a slight trip to the bookies used to be a bit makers in maybe years ago he said a sly trick of the book is betting slips galore a pencil and a very old copy of the Racing Post someone used to sneak up into our loft and you know figure out figure out the odds the other thing that was more sinister was this trunk I was the one who was tasked with opening it so I got the rubber gloves on opened this trunk and inside it was a cloak. Ok. But interesting got the cloak Atmananda me the cloak was a load of books what is this book and it was the attendance for a Masonic lodge somewhere in North Staffordshire I'm not a member of the Masons if I was on telly obviously but I'm not. And I thought right what do we do with this then you know the one of the most secretive associations and societies around what do we do with all this stuff and I came on the radio a couple of days later and said if anyone from a Masonic Lodge wants it they can never leave a reception and someone came and took it away but it was like all the garble the gear all the clothing and these lists of people who'd attended probably journalistic dynamite with it not venturing there you never know what might happen other comments coming in on things you found. We just moved into a house in Stoke on Trent says John it all smelled vial the water tank had a dead cat in it and loads of cap still smell it now nearly a week later John. But that wasn't in the Deeds was 808-012-1808 extension 0 or text 81 trouble 3 Start your message with the word stroke it could be somewhere you've moved into and found things in the loft that could be like me and produce a match you'd have to clear things out clearing out my mom's stuff was both horrible and fascinating at the same time. Because me and my big sister I say big I'm about 2 foot taller than she is but she's 5 years old when they're with Dad to sort of going through things and clearing stuff and dad was quite keen that we did it all quite quickly and all the rest of it just when I can't decide whether she got some kind of work on the side going on or something whether she got Swiss bank account which kept finding you know the red bags they put money in in the bank those with money and all that wasn't millions but it was significant and it was mainly dad taking 2 carrier bags full of cash to the bank It honestly looked like we been somewhere we should have been doing something we shouldn't have done walking down the High Street with 2 carrier bags with. Used 20. 4. In the loft 1970 s. Wedding photos and some new photos so if you sold a. Recently. Pix of gone. Quite disturbing finding huge photos of someone you didn't know in your life with Stevie Wonder. The small. Back. Start chatting to both from Gladiators and another set of lunchtime. Going on in the. Kevin fanny out in for me from 3 this afternoon the eighty's mixtape features Well I think country ritual is on with Graham Norton tonight on the t.v. It's also got music from The Cure and shock and then at 6 filled with your calls on all things Stoke viol and crew we've got a couple of must win games for Stoke there's another one on the white swans and tomorrow live coverage that of course here on b.b.c. Radio Stoke and still questions over the manager night and Jones and his position at the club I was 801218080 is the number to call you can text me this morning I want trouble 3 Start your message with the word stuck we are looking for the things that you have found in your loft or in the shed or if you've got buildings out which is why if you want to call them stuff you find and you think well that's different way it may be worth something maybe worth nothing b.b.c. Radio stocks Jenny been asking people in Hamley what they found within the century is any reason that compulsion. So that some. Things like everything should be exempt Laughs Yeah yeah noone can imagine. 19 days just to sit in jail. And. He was so you were a bit they go it when you found an empty loft but yeah I have it in the same Geoffrey Isabella any ethical way when it came to that ignore me but I'm not avoiding what you saw there and it was worded as well which is about a list where I was going to try and offer up a chain which I will end up finding my pole Stretton tonight. We've ended up leaving baby clothes back and things are because it's easy to forget about so from the left isn't it when you really felt and then it just stays up there not the last place you think about it. And you haven't found anything weird to any house as if it was. The only things of value when I was in those days we had all the junk was. A load of Northern Soul cd. Singles 7 inch vinyl. And I may try to buy one in particular shelf or near your 120 pounds or so many in America and that was just an old Northern Soul single so good luck finding not bad at all I think I think from the to box singles I made 9 affairs and found. No where I wanted to get up the loft you got your laugh you never know what you might find Northern Soul singles 100 of quid nigh on a 1000 pounds if you like Northern Soul Richard sailing is back tonight for I love the chance to look back at some of the big soul tracks of 969 with Richard back tomorrow night as well from 6 with a brand new show for you 080-121-8080 things you found in your loft or in your shed when we're living where we are now. We found it in a shed and we weren't really expecting this nor did we want it but the day you know how it works when when you buy a place you sort of have all the nonsense with solicitors of exchange of contracts and then completion of contracts and have to go to the estate agent and pick up the keys and then about 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon it was due on a Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon you're allowed to move into your house we turned up or more specifically I turned up and there was a loaded gate. No docks was there was a few gates there weren't there weren't part that I was ducks in the shed and we didn't want dogs who stuck so they. I was told don't worry some is going to pick the ducks up tomorrow right Ok. The night with a load of ducks bizarre and 101218080 the things you find in your loft are things you have found in your loft. One trouble 3 stuck in your message one took out language in a minute and words particularly Also are you being ripped off when it comes to your insurance if you stay with the same company the advice today from the Financial Conduct Authority is you really should be looking at switching as every likelihood that your renewal quote will not be as good as a quote from a new company so how much are you saying what do you do for people who maybe fight with using the Internet not good going online and just using the comparison sites people like Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert you know have on their website the different comparison sites to use and even the order in which to use them to try and get the best deal they might be you don't feel you have time to do that it might be done have the Internet yeah I would access the internet all the knowledge to do that so how much money losing it could run into hundreds it could run into thousands over the years we'll talk about that before $1130.00 and then it's time for top of the parts a start a question for that on the why before. Lose The to. B.b.c. Radio started long day the tide is high you weather cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle it will be dryer this afternoon could be some sunshine around highs of 14 mostly dry tonight temperatures down to 7 and then tomorrow starts off bright cloudy or in the afternoon with rain tomorrow night and highs tomorrow a 14 Celsius.
