B.b.c. Sorry 080571 on forsakes. So the conservatives have won the general election with a majority the party has made large gains at the expense of labor in its traditional hall once old counting is complete the Tories are projected to finish on 300 $64.00 seats and labor on $201.00 he is the story of a mentor. Polis suggesting that there will be a can. Majority. See this will be extremely disappointing for the. Let's go to blood here and levy the concept of party candidate 17 times 5. I am going to be on the train on Monday and I'm going to London we're going to get bricks that these are parts of the country that are absolutely drenched in red and we've seen time and again so far just over to the other side we're going to work. Gathering the candidates as we speak. The Conservative Party 20. But the message from working to be this we will deliver Workington voltage for 3 years it will we will get bricks. Through people have rejected the division that was offered by Jeremy McDonnell die now but on the other party tonight. We have. To meet the test of the public and in doing that we filed the people. Back this is obviously a very disappointing night for the Labor Party will not lead the party in any general election campaign the party leader. Has lost a seat in Dunbartonshire east to the Scottish National Party millions of people in our country these results. Bring dread and night. And people are looking for help this one Conservative government has been giving aid. You. Know just to get rich but you've got this country who would like you very much. The prime minister we're waiting to hear from him he's going to be speaking very shortly you'll hear that here. Sorry a little less surprising locally sorry remains blew our political reporter tax free and it's with us now morning Janet James look at some ways similar story to other elections but we do have 3 new M.P.'s in sorry including Guilford Yes that's right yes sorry remains Maine's remains Blue despite some predictions that the Lib Dems might have a chance Oh and I think they were about to hear from Marco sorry he thumping. Friends today we celebrate a victory a victory for the British people. If you. Are fellow citizens reminded us why this is such a wonderful country because they comprehensively rejected Jeremy called the politics of division extremism and anti semitism thank you if you've . And they voted in record numbers for a prime minister dedicated to restoring trust in our democracy by getting Breck's it done. If you. So this new government says thank you to the British people we will strongly every day to live up to the confidence that you have shown in us but I also want to say something to a very special group of British people are Jewish friends and neighbors you have had to live in fear for months now concerned that we would have a prime minister who trafficked in anti Jewish rhetoric and embrace to anti Jewish terrorists. You should never have to live in fear again thank you for for I also want to thank so many of the people who worked so hard to make this victory possible I want to thank the members of the Conservative Party the activist supporters candidates friends and family who worked so hard who gave so much in order to deliver this victory. But I also want to thank some others I want to thank those people who stepped outside their tribes and their traditions to speak the truth I want to thank those people who said the journey called them was unfit to be our prime minister Johnson was the right person to lead our country. Thank you. Labor politicians like Ian Austin John Woodcock Ivan Lewis and Jesus you showed amazing courage were joined by so many other people who had voted Labor all their life they are the best of us in so many ways and I am delighted that they recognized that Boris Johnson was the right person to lead this country our victory is that. Thank you. Our victory is built on the votes of those who originally supported leave and wanted that vote to be on it but it was also built on the votes of those who chose remain but who believe above all that Democratic votes must be respected. Thank God. They recognize that democracy is precious and they wanted a pm who could restore trust and that Prime Minister is Boris Johnson. Thank you thanks to Boris Johnson there are conservatives representing people across this country from Bam from back in the far northeast to Buderim Bodley Sultan in the southwest and thanks to Boris's leadership we have Conservative M.P.'s talented young Conservative M.P.'s who served in the n.h.s. And the front line of public services who are now the new M.P.'s in Bishop Auckland bloody Valley bowls over Bassett No doubt. Didn't you want. To so many of. Us Michael Gove the reelected sorry Heath m.p. Also the chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster speaking Boris Johnson will be also speaking we'll get him a little later on who saw a man who m.p. He was in but rather conveniently Yes and because of course we have 3 of those new M.P.'s here in sorry I was at the Spectrum leisure center last night in Guilford to see Angela Richardson elected she replaces the former m.p. I'm Milton who was there since 2005 but and had a real issue with constipating the idea of a no deal Bracks it she was one of the 21 rebels who voted against that possibility and lost the whip as a result. She then stood as an independent miss in this election but it wasn't to be had the vote was way down so it was actually Richardson who ended up taking the seat and I spoke to her at the council to have a very it's absolutely overwhelming because this was going to be very close this is the selection here and go for it I don't think anybody knew walking in this evening how this count was going to go I think throughout the whole campaign the polls have had it very very tight here and even as we've been out campaigning and talking to people and knocking on doors we had no idea whether we were going to be successful tonight absolutely delighted I'm relieved because I've been nervous all day some of the challenges in Guilford the housing issue for example be extremely controversial Where do you stand on that Ok well I had a bit of pushback because I was supporting the previous Conservative lead of ministration on the local plan the thing is Gilford has got to have counselling could have housing for its key workers to have housing to keep families together and that was really important to me that sense of community and that's one of the reasons that people voted leave in the referendum is because they didn't feel that sense of community anymore house prices a very expensive and go for it so I don't want people's children and grandchildren feeling like they've got to move out also don't want to go for it moving up to 34 floors like working has with their high rise development I don't think that's the right thing for Guilford and so the local plan means that housing goes out which but most importantly you've got to have infrastructure coming in in order to to help with that and the good thing in the Conservative manifesto is that we've said infrastructure must come 1st not at the end of developments and so I've got to make sure as the Member of Parliament that I chase up the developers and make sure that any of the the monies promised towards infrastructure projects get delivered in a timely manner so the new m.p. For the area and. The. Left she was an independent Yes she was and I did speak to her Look it became quite clear. Early on that and I wasn't going so to win the seat I mean I would expect some Her supporters and they said just as much to me and then I went and spoke to him and his rate epochal and she she's I won't concede defeat until it's definitely over but I mean it is not likely that I I will win but she had no regrets about what she'd done it was it was a really interesting to see her there and to see why she'd made that decision and 2 more M.P.'s as well in sorry who were there we had well we have a new m.p. Yes we have lots more than we have Philip Hammond seats in Iran I mean Weybridge the chancellor who'd been there since 1997 he's been replaced by Dr Ben Spencer and our reporter we're just we're just down has been speaking to him it probably will come as no surprise to your listeners that the main thing people have been talking about on doorsteps is breakfast and how we have been stuck and how we need to get things moving get things moving nationally in terms of getting back. And I'm the country to move on but also locally in terms of investing in infrastructure and getting up at the fences built which has been 2 in the main areas I've been running my campaign here on what do you hope to achieve through running mate in Woodbridge know your room well I mean 1st and foremost it's the things I've set out already which is getting a fair defense is built as quickly as possible investing more in our infrastructure especially things like improvements on the a free 20 and all rail links but it's more generally it's we continue to be a place of opportunity for everybody and for me that's what conservatives and conservatism is all about making sure everybody no matter what their background is has equal opportunity to get a life and that's why I look forward to working with the prime minister and his team going forward to do that and we should mention of course the neighboring constituency it was a quite close run thing for dominate Rob in Malta and it was one of the big areas of concentration where they thought the Lib Dems were going to do well did they well they did do well yeah I mean yes I mean there was a lot. National attention that was his kind of and his a patient there might be a Michael Portillo moment which refers to the 9097 election when Michael Portillo lost his seat and it's one of the things people always remember from that election and so there was this anticipation it might happen to Dominic Rob but it didn't happen it obviously didn't happen in the end but they had his enormous majority more than 23000 down to 3000 say well the Lib Dems had they really threw the kitchen sink at that seat I mean and they had to grant visiting him on Saturday One terms they had Michael Heseltine had all these big wigs they did everything they possibly could but in the end up majority was just too big We'll have more from you a little later on we're going to hear from the other new Sorry which is he sorry sorry yes replacing Sound say yes we'll hear from. Squiggly look at front pages newspapers rejoicing on this side of the desk in any way Johnson's historic victories a screaming headline of The Daily Telegraph with a picture of him had his dog you know the rescue dog the Afghans actually almost licking his face that's a picture on the front page of The Daily Telegraph same picture on the front page of The Sun the dog something or another's can say there. Is a front page of The Sun Daily Mail a rejoice Pariset for Trump thumping win a champion when I. Was a Freudian slip election poll points to Johnson landslide front page of The Times the front of the Daily Mirror a different view on proceedings nightmare before Xmas is their headline the I goes with Johnson unleashed the Guardian exit poll predicts huge majority for Johnson and the Daily Express obviously the opposite political persuasion to the Daily Mirror goes with the British lion rules for Boris and Breck's it well how are you feeling this morning about it you can let us know on text on a 13 double 3 start with the word radio and send us your message I would love to know your reflections on the general election would you like to see a change in the way that election campaigns are carried out thoughts of b.b.c. Series. Trollers give us a call any time I weigh 205-871-0468 travel update on Philips thank you for having talk wise on the m 25 still looking a bit slow 3 junction 10 it through towards 11 forward should see this pick up in places at the end 3 keeping just going to keep building through a bank show on t.v. Coming down towards the 3 I will say traffic at the Brookwood Crossroads is fairly slow heading northbound towards light water now through something Hill Brockenhurst road is closed because of a gas leak between Hancock's mounds and St Mary's right and if each other laying into working Guilford right getting to look busy and St Peter's way through each it see looking slow as well now usual delays through mode rush it Leatherhead right particularly northbound is slow heading away from the m 25 and the a 23 Brighton right is heavy into those write books to get an 8 to 10 minute delay now in both directions and if you chuckling southbound on the m 23 so on the cameras through a junction 9 forget wake now still go disruption on Southwest and row 8 because it's ongoing strike action so a service is running again across the network I'm Aaron Phillips b.b.c. Right I have I have a message to all those who voted for us yesterday especially those who voted for us conservatives one nation itself is for the 1st time you may only have lent us your vote you may not think of yourself as a natural Tory and as I say I think I said 11 years ago to the people of London when I was elected in what was thought of as a labor city your hands may have quivered over the ballot paper as before you put your cross in the conservative box and you may intend to return to labor next time around and if that is the case I am humbled that you have put your trust in me and that you have put your trust in us and I over we will never take your support for granted didn't and I will make you. I will make it my mission to work night and day flat out to prove you right in voting for me this time and to earn your support in the future and I say to you that in this election your voice has been heard and about time too because we politicians have squandered the last 3 years 3 and a half years in squabbles about race we even been arguing about arguing and about the tone of our arguments I will put an end to all that nonsense and we will get bricks done on time by the 31st of January no ifs no buts no maybes leaving the European Union as one united kingdom. Taking back control of our laws borders money trade immigration system delivering on the democratic mandate of the people and at the same time this One Nation Conservative government will massively increase our investment in the n.h.s. The health service the represents the very best of our country with this single beautiful idea that whoever we are rich poor young old the n.h.s. Is that for us when we are sick and every day that service performs miracles. And that is why the n.h.s. Is this One Nation Conservative government's top priority and so we will deliver 50000 more nurses and 50000000 more g.p. Surgery appointments and how many new laws rules. And we will deliver long term n.h.s. Budget in straw and in law 650000000 extra every week health secretary and and and all the other and all the other priorities that you the people of this country voted for record spending on schools an Australian style points based immigration system more police only. Colossal new investments in infrastructure and science using our incredible technological advantages to make this country the cleanest greenest on earth with the most far reaching environmental program and you the people of this country voted to be carbon neutral in this election you voted to be carbon neutral by 2050 I will do it you're also going to be called a neutral bike by Christmas by the way that will be live that would be you voted for all these things and it is now this government this people's government it's our solemn duty to deliver on each and every one of those commitments and it is a great and heavy responsibility a sacred trust for me for every newly elected conservative m.p. For everyone in this room and everyone in this party and I repeat that in winning this election we have won votes and the trust of people who have never voted Conservative before and people who've always voted for other parties those people won't change we cannot must not. Must not let them down and in delivering change we must change too we must recognize the incredible reality that we now spe
