That have a. Story to start off the middle. Of the top 5 areas in Britain where when it comes to homes no one has a job. To. Help people. We don t want any number of workless households in our area quite disturbing we ll be hearing more from David in Middlesborough He s been unemployed for 16 years also this afternoon trees are being giving her big speech to close the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham today she claimed the Tories are now the party of ordinary working class people and the prime minister also says House have vision for Britain after. I want to. Treat. The British politics. Well everyone plays by the rules of political reporter Paul Rowley will be here after half past 4 to reflect on reaction to that speech in sports. Says he s looking forward to concentrating on his side s league fixtures go out of the a.f.l. Trophy at the group stage following their defeat to Sunderland on the 23 Victoria Park last night. Because. Of probably played. For nothing so that s. Something distinctly fishy about that you can find out before 5. 7 minutes past the hour welcome long this Wednesday tee time if you want to or joining the conversation this afternoon do get in touch with us or 1642 double to double 5 to one you can text as well 81 trouble 3 Start your message with the word tease and we started off for this evening with a story we ve been covering today on b.b.c. Tees looking at the number of workless households in our area it s been forming for the last few years however Middlesborough and hearty pull still among the top 5 areas in Britain when it comes to homes where no one has a job at least that s according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics last year almost one in 4 households in Middlesbrough had no one in work was more than a quarter of households in how it will were also classed as workless Liverpool and Glasgow are the only areas that fare worse than we do in the research we re calling Riley is 55 he s from Middlesborough he s been out of work for 9 years I started getting a bit depressed started thinking. This is against me now I ve got no chance you start looking at yourself when you sign in on the benefit as though you re some sort of a scrounger Kitty McKeown to an associate lecturer and so she ology at Teesside University were always a temptation to blame why did. The largest social problems one case started I think we need to get cut back I think we know it s not true I don t think we are 2nd here I think I think we are kind of people who want to act hard and we don t want to give all of it to do that but it s not all bad news the leader of Red Crow in Cleveland Council says there are reasons to be optimistic despite the figures here is Sue Jeffrey we ve currently got a 12300000000 pound economy here in the tease family the last 4 years we ve actually seen the total number of jobs in the Tees Valley increased by over 25000 good 223000000 pounds of investment through the public and private sector to deliver 11620 jobs that s a huge Let s look at one specific. Case in our area are reportedly Johnson s been speaking to David for Middlesborough Now David s been employed for 16 years and he says that employers won t take a chance on him due to his criminal record and health problems I ve been I want since I left school to to. Get a kernel conviction health people sick sick in my past when my father passed and now we don t want him and I will Dana so it should be no work since 6 think she s got a record and what happened what what and what do I record for Afraid to space like a friend when I was 14 years old because you see now don t you know your reasons from Blackpool him to to Middlesborough was your what your experiences of trying to find work and it s really hard especially with a heart defect I want the correct call to just see somebody they don t substitute and their insurance is to protect them and think well you know I can do the job as well as the next person and you apply for jobs and want you to be heard heard nothing but notice saying Don t want you to tell you your health because of the job entails heavy lifting. To some else don t it won t go time here. And how many jobs would you say you re applying for on a on a weekly basis for example or a monthly basis I can apply for about 20 ships a week but the moment I m not doing the mocks I m trying to get social. And hopefully I ve spoken to people about what I call it ice dancing employer and if they if they employ me with my afraid of my record shows waivers I wanted to take a chance on us yeah that s all I want some say look get a couple records got a background look at my tongue s How does it feel when you are looking to try and find a job or an emotionally what what what does it do here it just brings me down to thinking well why should I bother myself to stand benefits easier than looking for some sent to me like a hot beef that we don t you know I got from records we don t want you know most of the city s dead on benefits. I don t watch them and if it s a. Second marriage I ve got to tell me save your benefit because you re mentally ill you mentally not working and not doing nothing and always 1st it s possible we are it s a cycle where you say I m sick I m still Yeah it does harm so can I routinely I drive about work and money don t climb off the taxpayer I m a proud man and I have and I can do all that and how long have you been coming here to the whole foundation I think when every year and also this is going to be key for me to get social care so say they ve set right to do this with you as we get on the ground see if you can get in so if you can you said can it be downstream plugger of every employee you are not so hopefully somebody will take a chance and you re Ok with that chance and how do you see your future then after after being out of well never in work from the age of 16 Yeah I don t want to work with children and not so hopefully that was something good stead. Of that some good stuff foundation loves they try to help make it work. From somewhere and you seem quite a positive person though I mean you do retain the positivity that you will find something trying to go for a function where I don t play is where the mic record is hoping somebody say you were given a chance so if you cocky people want you out in the day and that s David talking to our reporter lead Johnson about the number of workless households in our area New figures from the Office for National Statistics show that certain parts for every particular Middlesborough and heart pool amongst the top 5 areas in Britain where 0 no one in households has a job quite disturbing. On digital on f.m. On the b.b.c. . 30 minutes past 4 or 5 this afternoon a big cities were going to move from one disturbing story to another this one s way it s quite a shame actually because ever since well ever since I was born actually I ve sort of lived in the shadow of the Estan hills and particularly the western now but used to live in rec I used to be see the best and now from my bedroom window at one point and soit virtually every day. Only been up there a few times but I wouldn t expect to find up there what apparently you do find it there burnt out cars broken barriers and endless rubbish that in fact that s just a snapshot of the scene today on 2 sides historic western hills and now that vandalism is meant to the 3 year project to showcase as the nub won t be going ahead community group Friends of best and hills had planned to create a memorial on top of the site but due to the damage that s being cause that s been abandoned Well our reporter Louise Hobson has been there today for b.b.c. t S this was drunk last night I guess I was a yes I mean it was only you and your wife. Will miss me you re not looks like they re just going to the trade for nothing is an environmental campaign and. You know right it s beautiful being your life and long before all this started happening you know it s probably the it s probably the most the worst joyriding hotspot in the whole Cleveland area really the place of a hell of a time content and in one of the results is to adequately place the area that s a fact you know Osmond is full of the council up and saying Ok there s a there s been one over there was fly tipping here there s a pile of us bestest there and I had to Google Maps and pinpoint them all so they know exactly what it is you know it s like every week something goes on something bad happens it s very very disappointing Sadly this is had a bit of an impact on. The Morial for the I mean well the idea was to try to promote the idea of buying more of the site and Ridge and saw the profile of Este and hills and came up with ambitious plans to install a memorial to the mine Is it were killed beneath this was the world s biggest dime store mine right and it made middle of the world capital of I in Macon but in Victorian Britain so really this is a you know there s a case for world heritage did this now to get something like that would mean Griff grit funding you know to really do the site justice and and promote it like it should be and have it cared for and looked after and managed you know nearly 400 men were killed many things hills you know. And a memorial to the House and the legacy people go up there the don t I think about the land beneath the feet so much both it s just too much of a gamble let s face it after the way this dishonest joyride in and just goes on and on and it s just relentless. If you google it be bankrupt it seems to start a path to find on its roof. And a couple of others. Just car I m for 15 minutes of 3 of the hills in front of us. That is another piece of the vandalism So this is. This is a Jeep Cherokee that was. Smashed into these barriers that the farmer pulled in the new farmer put the steel bollards in and quite a job on his part Oh goodness it s all it s turned upside down you know they re actually reversed to the vehicle into the bollards at high speed so off so much that open ended when the this and this car was pretty much vertical leaning against the steel pipes for a while and then it was set on fire and then it s being tipped over some of you know and now look at it I mean look at the mess these balls are put in it only just finished it and then the you know the role of the whole you know. Rhonda it s a real shame that isn t it spoiling a lovely part of irony you do wonder why people do stuff like that you really do but if you would like to see a video of some of that vandalism so you can judge for yourself or you can find that on the b.b.c. T s Facebook page right now just go to facebook dot com forward slash b.b.c. Today s. B.b.c. . So 17 minutes past 4 Wednesday afternoon let s get the latest news headlines now from Graham Pickering the former partner of the Eastenders actress Scion blanks being given a whole life sentence for murdering her and their 2 children Middlesbrough and Hartley Paul are among the 5 worst areas in Britain when it comes to the number of households where no one has a job Nixon has the sports where the whole people United manager Craig Hignett says he s looking forward to concentrating on his side s matches in League 2 following the a.f.l. Trophy exit last night more tough or look at the weather it will be dry tonight with some broken cloud also some clear spells in Prospect breezy with lows around 11 Celsius that s 52 degrees Fahrenheit As for Thursday Well another dry day tomorrow with variable cloud amounts and some sunny spells it ll feel cooler with a freshening south easterly wind and afternoon highs around 15 Celsius that s 59 degrees Fahrenheit will get more from Paul Mooney in 30 minutes just give you a quick piece of travel news around Middlesbrough the a 66 Eastbound is closed queueing traffic this is due to an accident between the middle Haven interchange and the cargo fleet interchange near to the Riverside Stadium so watch out for that one the I 66 eastbound closed between middle heaven and cargo fleet will get more from Dave on that in the next few minutes time of the last one I want to miss 3. Time. This is a different form. Of fishing back with our lives tomorrow from 12 on b.b.c. 2 yes 90 minutes past 4 let s return to a story which Tom briefly yesterday because you might recall that and Darwin the wife of. Qunu con man John Darwin was on i.t.v. Yes it was she s been talking to the b.b.c. Today we get a little bit more background to her story now when John Darwin was reported missing back in 2002 an expensive rescue operation was mounted to find him he faked a canoeing accident in order to claim insurance money after getting into debt but he was then living with his wife at their seaside home near Hartlepool before they moved to Panama to begin a new life well a couple sons Mark and Anthony believed their father was dead until he walked into a police station that is in 2007 claiming you d lost his memory was speaking to the b.b.c. She says that once she d gone along with husband s decision to pretend he drowned it was difficult to stop the lie then this silly he contemplated crashing his car but then saw it caught either injure himself badly or indeed kill himself and he didn t obviously want to do that he did watch the weather. Just sprung it on me I think you know heavy for the. Wealthy ideal weather conditions tomorrow to put this plan into action and once he got on that roller coaster it s it s difficult to get to John and Darwin was sentenced to 6 and 6 and a half years in prison respectively and received the longest sentence because she pleaded not guilty she d claimed her domineering husband had forced her to go through with the plan but her defense of marital coercion was dismissed by the jury John had always been the controlling partner he d always made all of the decisions in life. Particularly when it came to finance I always felt that he was better equipped to deal with those things from the early days in our marriage and I just got into a habit of following what he wanted. And because he was adamant that it would all be over in a short time I just got swept along with it and and Darwin s not guilty plea meant also that her sons were forced to testify against during court she says she ll feel guilty for the rest of her life for lying to them and she says the hardest part of being in prison was not hearing from her family from entering prison I had written to them on a regular basis. Just saying to him I do look here and I m sorry it was after the trial Well yes. A few months after the trial when I have to got a letter and straight from Mark get that letter. Offered me some hope that perhaps I hadn t lost them proper which by this point of her thoughts about her that when Darwin has now written a book called Out of my depth she says that one of the reasons she did it is to try and help people who may feel stuck and unable to change their situations if you not happy in a relationship don t stay there it is possible to lead an independent life and I m quite happy with my life now I ve got an independent life I m responsible for my own actions I answer only to myself I can take you know a full role in family life and I ve got my job. I pay my own bills. If I can and carry each someone else to take that step I would love to do that now when talking to the b.b.c. Earlier today. I was mentioning a couple of minutes ago problems on the 66 you can presumably tell us a bit more about. The issue 6 currently closed eastbound east of middle have an interchange of towards cargo fleets an accident by the riverside and how many vehicles involved the police have deemed it important that have to close the entire eastbound carriage was one of my to be very heavy and very very slow lots of traffic already heading off Martin road to avoid that one Cambridge Road is now reopened following an overturned car around the junction of 18 road no problems through darling darling to Durham coping quite nicely although 167 and public transport are fine but just to recap 66 closed eastbound through Middlesbrough from middle haven t changed just a better road junction of towards cargo fleet Lane That s it for now anything else 30123011 that s what. Sports Tonight at 6 will be looking back at last night s footy action of course those a.f.l. Trophy games between how it will and Sunderland under 20 three s and middles prison the $23.00 down at Cambridge United and it in 2 defeats for our teams unfortunately will get reaction to that and the rest the sport with Rob Lowe b.b.c. Sport tonight from 6 kids in Seaside County Durham North Yorkshire on the move with travel updates every 15 minutes b.b.c. . Just over 25 past 4 and this afternoon on b.b.c. Tees we re hearing that a plan to build a 9000000 pound Country Park in North Yorkshire is ready to go back for approval now the end Nischelle proposal was for $179.00 chalets to be part of the developments going to be between Great Satan and Stoke see it would also have created new jobs but on the day the plan was due to be decided on by councillors the developer Alan patch withdrew the application well we can find out more about this now from our reporter Andy bellows live for us on the site of the pro proposed development and they. Yes Certainly I m on when Lee Hill farm the farm stretches across some 300 acres here you mentioned just a short distance from from great and let me tell you what a wonderful wonderful place to be I ve got a beautiful vista of the Cleveland hills to my right panning round and then a tree line and just behind the tree line you will find Rosemary talking so I could think of a you know of a better place to be out enjoying all beautiful countryside and we re going to speak to patch the developer in just a 2nd but I just want to take you back a few months because it was back in June that we were reporting on the 1st up location there was talk of jobs fishing ponds cafes Cycling Center and for a few local people had been a little bit concerned raised about and traffic on here and it s that application was withdrawn and gone through There was talks of this this new site being open by June next year. It was withdrawn Let s find out the reason why I ve got a patch with me Good afternoon to you often start by then why did you initially withdraw that 1st application Well Leigh the local planning authority just after many many chats with them just seemed own comfortable with this this year size of its. Same does you know want to do is to change it to some of the small more 15 and appropriate that would fit in with the area talk with you off air and not seems to me that that was something very important to you because you ve got the families had the farm sense back in the sixty s important that you know that anything that doesn t arrive here is absolutely in keeping with this beautiful area absolutely I mean I m from this era school they say you know in this area grown up I ve got family and family that we want to grow up around here we want to we want to showcase the area want to bring people into the area that that. Can that we can develop the tourism may have but not spoil it certainly you know the idea when you develop a lot of the ad tree plantains and not type a thing to give and idea once get for it Ok so if this new application gets the nod Can you give us an idea of what you are planning to build what is going to be here the idea the applications gone in fall $54.00 launches. Those those lodges will be put on site if we get the application on a thing is development a thing stage. And we would put in a lot of trees in a lot of landscaping we ve actually reduced the area significantly reduce the numbers even more so each of the most spacious and most spacious and picturesque stretch feel you know you told me that the plans for this is just through the trees about 400 yards so we re actually on our girl of Pok which is you know a similar idea you ve got these Paul does. And the sort of outdoor space and a suppose and extension a little bit of a a bigger scale than what we have in front of us here yeah we have many people come visions here and we do outdoor wedding. All sorts of events and people just absolutely adore it we just fail well well why should we share even more why should we share the area move it very quickly then we ve got the potential for tourism as a sever got the North Yorkshire minutes just a short distance away. That for you was one of the key things on a budget to bring more people and to showcase our area and also the potential for cycling and this new proposal Yeah there is I mean they at the back side of the farm he won t be coast to coast routes there is talk of stronger talks long and hard as just runs about the putting forward the end Devil way which would be a cycle link between great and socially right re a longer river I mean what what what a perfect place you know perfect way to put it Ok you re feeling confident then that the application will go through if it does get the thumbs up when will this be built we would love it if we could get the application through this winter so we can start planting and start developing next year potential jobs that will come along with I m potential jobs or come along with us in construction phase and management in developed and and in actually running this site Ok well thanks very much for your time this afternoon thank you. Thanks very much for that and they care we ll see how that development comes along it s just come out to help us for news headlines coming up very shortly 1st let s have a quick look at what s catching our attention online and on social media love what s on social media but 1st state let s start with the serious stuff here than abusing national news undercover journalist Muslim a mood known as the fair share has been found guilty of conspiring to pervert the course of justice now he s 53 year old and it was found to have tampered with evidence in the collapsed drugs trial you remember of the singer Tulisa Konstanz double as his driver and codefendant Alan Smith $67.00 was also found guilty of the same charge following the trial at the Old Bailey both men will be sentenced on the 21st of this month and something on our Web site that police have to turn to youths and seize in their weapon after being called to a school in County Durham 3 teenage boys is encouraging an air rifle close to Greenfield school in new sneakers about 9 o clock this morning though police have confirmed that no one was injured we were talking about the fishing industry post-breakfast in in such parts say yesterday because that today is got a story about the farming industry post back that yeah this is do with would be m.p. Robert goodwill was one of 8 local M.P. s who pledged to support Yorkshire farmers all the M.P. s have signed the n.f. Use post bricks it pledge to get behind the British food production where farmers visited Westminster for back British farming to you may remember the North Yorkshire farmers met other members of the sector outside the house of parliament to highlight the contribution that farming makes to the nation it s quite surprising actually the sectors estimated to add around 200000000000 pounds on the economy and employs one in 8 of the national workforce Lima had never knew that I never knew this either this is a great story God tells about Sampson yet this is sums of New York s largest cutter s in the telegraph its grit film is a must have cutting $28.00 pounds in which to stow Yeah and 4 feet in length that s a small small Pew Murs the lion. Meanwhile the middle 23 s. Head coach Paul Jenkins felt his side struggled with Cambridge s direct approach during their 21 defeat at. The Abbey stadium and Matthew goal in the 2nd half means bar will also go out of the competition at the group stage f.l. Sure we will each. B.b.c. . S. Coming up before 5 a little bit of politics next but also for you in the next 20 minutes a ghost story and a fishy story. One features the Bee Gees the other one I had for supper last night . If you re talking about this we re talking about. It s just. Coming up to 25 let s talk politics shall we yes because we finally come to the end of lease I think we have of the conference season to resume a closing the conservatives annual conference in Birmingham today the 1st under her leadership and they did the 1st since Britain voted to leave the European Union now the prime minister says that she wants the Tories talky part what she s calling the new center ground of British politics with a pledge to help ordinary working people as part of a country that works for everyone well I m joined now by our political correspondent Paul Rowley a veteran of these occasions I know Sir Paul what did you make of it or for a 1st time a mike it was an impressive debut let s not forget Theresa May became prime minister almost by default following David Cameron s resignation after the BRICs it referendum she entered Downing Street without facing an election in her party let alone the country and yet she now seems ready to overhaul longstanding Tory thinking attacking what she called the privileged elite promising to intervene in the free market if necessary to tackle bad business practice and offering to help Albany working class people who she felt had been overlooked by society I want to set our party and our country on the park towards the new center ground of British politics built on the values of fairness and opportunity where everyone plays by the same rules is part of what she s calling Mike a great meritocracy saying a change had to come a phrase which I thought had echoes of the song a change is gonna come from Sam Cooke which you may remember. From the 1960 s. Which was an anthem of the American civil rights movement and something that Barack Obama embraced when he became America s president in 2008 so overall for her 1st speech at the close of a party conference it was pretty powerful stuff well before my time. Paul I mean. Rights How did the message go down then with the activists Oh they loved it even though this speech was short on policy that s something that will have to come later and let s not forget the activists were on a different side of the argument over Europe most of the members of the Conservative Party voted to leave the European Union and she was a remainer albeit or a reluctant remain although she is now seemingly embracing Breck s it crudely though she seems to be trying to reposition the party in the mainstream which you may say is a naked piece of political opportunism because of the divisions at the moment on the Jeremy Corbyn which in part I m sure her strategy is believe it is but having watched a resume a Over the years Mike is this serious no nonsense unflashy steady as she go figure I think she generally believes that s where the party should be in future so pretty strong words but she still has to deliver on these changes that I think will be the hard bit all right Colonel sound very heavy duty stuff the speeches that conferences yesterday we were hearing from your colleague Alexandrovitch go put together a little sequence of jokes and attempts at humor which I have to say sometimes didn t quite get there so what about the prime minister did she have time to crack any jokes to be only she is not good at stand up she is a vicar s daughter by the way who turned who turned 60 at the weekend but there was a joke early on about Boris Johnson and whether Reid last the week which went down quite well even with Boris Johnson and in the midst of a quite a serious piece about the Labor Party and how she felt they were no longer the Workers Party she s now trying to embrace that message that the Tories can be the Workers Party even though they re still have to win lots of seats in the north of England if they have to have a sizeable majority come the next election but amidst an attack on labor without mentioning Jeremy Corbyn by name she did reminders of one or one of the favorites one of her famous phrases of the past fighting among themselves. For their career tolerating and Semitism and supporting voices of hate. You know what s on. I and that Mike is a reference to the phrase that says she corned back in 2002 all the 14 years ago when the Tories had lost another election to Tony Blair seemingly at the time were going nowhere she was a party chairman she was criticised by some and it was often misinterpreted that she was saying the Tories were the nasty party she was actually saying there is there a feeling out there among the activists that they are nasty in many respects and I think that is something that still all these years later she seems quite committed to address in future whether or not she can deliver on that whether it means that they win back seats in the north of England we ve yet to find out the next election is all a further 3 and a half years away but as I say for a 1st time speech to conference at the close of conference Nick was one of the best that I have seen good stuff and you are a veteran Paul thanks very much for that Paul could go now into Paki s little suitcase and head back to Westminster where will no doubt be catching up with him in the very near future so Paul tell us about trees or make cracking a little bit I like that nasty party joke at last he could not not is the way she chose I mean oh so is she to or can t do a front cross and gonna be b c. That s a car. Was in the room that was near it s quarter to 5 when See afternoon on b.b.c. t S that surrogate letters news headlines now from Graham Pickering Middlesborough and Hartley Paul are among the 5 worst areas in Britain when it comes to the number of households where no one has a job plans to create a monument to destiny now being thrown into doubt after vandalism by the Nixon has the sport where the Middlesbrough in the 23 years head coach Paul Jenkins felt his side struggled Cambridge s direct approach during their 2 want defeat at the Abbey stadium March to 5. B.b.c. Tees breakfast the number of workplace households in our area has been falling for the last few years however Middlesbrough and Holly Pulis still amongst the top 5 in Britain I think we need to be aware of what these statistics are about students and of course as the success of Teesside University grows so we have more students the stimulus has been interesting I completely disagree says I think most students going to Saturday job when they go to. The rising she should phase around 75 percent of students are my course had a part time job to keep them going while there was 2 things I don t think it s a factor on the worker stats at all the b.b.c. Tees breakfast with nearly any weekend mornings from 630 right let s speak to a man with a part time job to keep him going looking after the weather forests. Palmo to act like looking outside pole it s another lovely sunny sunny that we ll see what I m going for sunny autumnal Yeah has been it s been a lovely afternoon Yeah the clouds broke up nicely lovely blue skies lots of sunshine. Cool southeasterly breeze again but where you get shelter from the breeze temperatures up to 16 Celsius and felt very pleasant and to eat and all in all the weather set to stay fairly quiet over the next few days more sleep dry thanks to high pressure which is centered over Scandinavia but it s fitting and these southeasterly breezes across our neck of the woods so it should stay faint and dry tonight there will be a bit more quiet at end than there has been through the day still some gaps though and here to get a shelter from the breeze temp just perhaps said to single figures that a bit sale sis at the last us 46 $5.00 and $8.00 tomorrow it s another dry day for most of us a bit more closed and a day perhaps so obviously less blue sky less sunshine and the clouds in feed a thick enough for the odd spot of rain later and I think you d be unlucky if you see any rain that most places will stay dry but with an easterly breeze and a bit more than today temperatures a bit don t. 14 Celsius and heights morrow afternoon which is 575 and this behead through faith and into the weekend a great deal changes easterly winds filament of Clay didn t on the whole but still a few sunny intervals and daytime temps just typically thought Tina 14 Celsius tainted just just stepping in to single figures lots we try to that s not sounding too bad now yesterday on our program poll we were talking about that sausage theme visitor attraction that might be coming to North Yorkshire sausage world if you can just see the signs on the roads now on the one I know says there s a silly sausage in the papers today if you ve been following the story of Vegemite all of a well and how he s managed to upset the whole of sped Well certainly the whole of the Valencian region anyway with his recipe for paella because he s put treats so it now treats so is a Spanish sausage so you d think that would be Ok but apparently Well it s set off a bit of a storm because it s not in keeping with paella as Valencian origins in fact it s described in Valencia if you put treats or it is just rice with whatever rather than the somebodies described. As an abomination of loss of the incumbent and until a new a Villareal say criticism a bit more humorous it says he but no less because he commented Ok I ll play the same game my version of fish and chips combines with duck I think he was trying to make a point that do you do you know there is actually a website called we keep paella dot org I recommend if you can speak Spanish I recommend anybody to have a look at it I was just having a look this afternoon it s innit. Includes amongst its mission statements we publicly condemn infringements made against authentic Priam we lobby non of it traditionalists then it could be put that way yes Spanish people seem to be a little bit touchy on this subject I suppose we d be the same if somebody came along and did something with our fish and chips or Yoshimi is not flavor of the Certainly no I wouldn t recommend that he goes that says a Gordon Ramsay s or another one who fell foul of this to fell foul of the Spanish earlier in the year when he did a chili infused Pyar which led the newspaper El Pais to say well it s never too late is it Compu Spain with Mexico. 30 to achieve the span of time was obviously important to them. A mommy p s and q s. Thanks. Again in an hour. Earlier this year Dave I was. Driving past the rice fields of really great just seeing these paddy fields in the middle of spin fantastic yeah you would expect that would you know I mean I genuinely would know me I always associate this with much more climes like India and the like. To wade in and pick some rice and see what it was all about well there you go. Big grin this afternoon Mike Johnny s been on not only do we have the accident on the 19 northbound just after the 174 you ve also got an accident involving a lorry on the on the outside lane of the 174 heading westbound approaching the. Only about this is well about $300.00 yards prior to the end 19 involving a lorry and it s causing already on the 174 Add that to the problems you got on the a 19 just north of the Parkway so very pleasant it saved an actual 66 eastbound between middle haven and. It s now reopened following. No major hassles elsewhere apart from Haven t Hill Road the 1046 Absolutely chockablock. Coming down for a while from have until all the way through towards por trucks or really quite grim there on the 1046 but not sure why that is just a little bit on the slow side as you re traveling southbound on the m $100.00 from North Down towards the $66.00 so it shouldn t be that one on the move no major hassles into or out of during this afternoon if you do spot anything at all give us a ring on the Travel line 301-2301 I want. County Durham. On the move with travel updates every 15 minute. Story for you. Wednesday afternoon on big cities but before that official story if you re the one about the talking fish. It s not such a bad joke I promise but it is a genuine story absolutely genuine a team of scientists have been researching the languages of cod partly called in different cities around the world sound different it s as if they re speaking different languages or perhaps they ve got their own regional accents give you an example this is the sound of a called in the West Atlantica off the coast of Maine. Where is this is one of the coast of Norway in the north east Arctic. Now Fair enough they do sound different but why should we possibly be interested Well Professor Steve Simpson is an associate professor in marine biology and global change at Exeter University he says the sounds the cold make could be important for breeding and the future of the fish what you re listening to probably is a male trying to persuade a female to release her eggs so that the point of the cut a sworn in a male and female swim towards the surface and the male has to get his song just right to persuade the female to release her eggs and that song gives a lot of information about what quality He s in weatherizing condition what size he is and say she can then determine whether he s a he s a decent mate before she released her eggs Well today scientists have been recording the sound that called make in Liverpool Scouts called the bay that they ve already got some from Scotland and the Southwest what they now want to know is whether Scott respond to the sounds made by cod from other areas where already seeing Cod moving further north and they say could have quite traditional spawning grounds that there were 10 to each year so if the water s woman called me it starts to re assemble to mix together different populations in a new way and if this song is very specific. That they need to be able to reproduce then it could challenge that opportunity Professor Simpson says it could be that fish may need to learn how to impersonate to breed in the future. And see where we go now can you imagine then what it would be like when a show of Southern Fish crossed paths with the northern counterparts it might go something like this a story begins in the shallows of the Thames the company called Goes are heading north on the poor. Guy kills on somebody get on the dock and back into these no overcalled we need to get we go and. Meanwhile in the murky depths of the murders a sole. Cause of it is it let. Me. Confess he s a bubble a gay challenge I am told love to call the gale set on the way let s meet them all down stream I m not going. To let you see them to come. Here because he praises and if. He don t. Think you don t don t you don t I don t I didn t say these no often buy stuff understand think it was a gallows Let s get back down to that sad. Day you couldn t make it oh could you but I think we did that I was actually quite good wasn t it right it just goes to show the amount of ingenuity we have around here. Might be. See. For me to 5 you had a bit of the b. G. s there they feature in our ghost story for this Wednesday tea time because the last surviving member of the Bee Gees as described seeing the ghost of his late brother and band mate robbing gave he says the vision appeared at his home in Miami well the singer is about to release his 1st album following the deaths of siblings Robin Morris and he says music s helped him deal with his grief he s been talking to a reporter James Alexander the hits of the Bee Gees band 5 decades from classic ballads to disco floor fellows 3 brothers whose high pitched harmonies and songwriting genius made them the most successful family group in music history. The sudden death of Morris gave in 2003 and Robin given 2012 spell the end of the band leaving Barry the eldest of the brothers the only one left he told me his wife Linda encouraged his return to music I would lie around on the couch all day in the lounge with the remote because any distraction any form of escape was better than facing the fact that all my brothers were gone. Eventually learn to walk in and said Get out there and do what you know how to do and stop worrying about everything else. And so facts that got me going on his new album in the Now Barry s keeping music in the family writing with his son Stephen and Ashley and at 70 years old his famous falsetto is still in fine fettle I tried every day to make sure the last was still work. I tried to restrain these days more but when I do do it I enjoy it and for some strange reason the audience does too and he gives a blast I can t. You don t want to too much. But. He. Did you find these songs came easily yeah in a way in a way because it was the frame of mind that I was in there was a lot of been a lot of loss in my family I m sort of the last guy around so a lot of those feelings and perspectives and insights on life itself is in this home. The final track on the album is called end of the rainbow Berry says he wrote it for his brother Robin as he lay dying of cancer I went to the hospital and he was in a coma and I sang him the 1st verse and chorus so to this day I don t know if you ever heard it but that is what the end of the rainbow means whatever you were dreaming about Rob It s Ok you know it came true and we couldn t have asked for about a dream to come true we couldn t ask for more than we can song I m sorry man sprang into me. When. I ve seen an apparition of Robert one night and when I was looking from the picnic you see right down the hallway to the lobby where that the front door Coast allowed I watched him walk past out the whole way in his blue jacket looking well I knew that war and you know what and I went locked in there s no what here and quite often I will hear Robin speak or I will hear one of my brothers speak and has nobody there so maybe that s me you know so I don t question it too much and I don t fear it but you don t find that frightening using them for saying is it comforting because if there is such a thing then there around me and that they can. You can be any good but you must go on and life is for living. Sees it. Or how I. Can. See the. Crowd as well. Where do you see the 5th of October of 95 f.m. On digital and online this is b.b.c. Che s one minute past 5 with the latest news his gran Pickering police and the fire brigade are investigating a suspected arson attack on a council as car in Middlesborough but will break out as Will says no one was hurt but the vehicle belonging to a counsellor who it hasn t named is thought have been destroyed late yesterday evening the council says a car belonging to another councillor was satellite earlier this year and members homes have also been targeted but as for mad Dave Budds asked anyone with information to come forward Michael have more on that story after the news the former partner of the Eastenders actress Scion Blake s been given a whole life sentence for murdering her to her and their 2 children after Simpson Kent stabbed them to death in southeast London last December d.c.i. Graham Quinn from the Metropolitan Police read a statement on behalf of science family it is extremely difficult to put into words almost impossible how we have suffered as a result of the murder of our loved ones beautiful science Zachary and little. When loved ones are raised from your lives so horrifically your life stops we carry scars knowing Arthur is taking what was in his to take in the despicable evil empire around a quarter of homes in Middlesbrough and hardly people have no one who lives there and work according to figures from the Office for National Statistics that show that the number of. Solved in that situations falling but the town s still rank in the 5 worst in Britain that he 2 year old David from Middlesbrough s been without a job all his adult life he says it s difficult to find anyone who given the chance after what seems less school to chew. The cruel conviction healthy people sex again the past and past nor would I want him to specify when I was 40 years old . Don t to know Labor says to reason May s rhetorics at odds with actions after the prime minister told the Conservative Party conference that she wanted a united Britain where fairness was restored Labor claims policies such as the reintroduction of grammar schools will increase divisions in society which we will be getting a share of 60000000 pounds to help young people get more from education it s for a funding scheme announced by the education secretary Justin greening Terry pastor bones the leader of Scarborough Council he says the area needs to offer the right training for jobs with local employers with the bent of the published man coming in the actual wind industry there s going to be tremendous requests for skilled engineering workers which we haven t had that Priscilla to be across so the news that s been announced will allow us to deliver so of course our people and campaigners say that plans for a monument of the side which was the center of the 1st ironstone mining on Tayside have been put into jeopardy by vandals a barrier put up to protect land that the Aston hells was cut through and found lying on the ground Craig Hornby from the friends of best and hells says levels of flying tipping and vandalism in the area are the worst he s seen he says it s a growing struggle to improve the area and recognise its heritage people said the monuments grid. You know we feel vandalism and all our real target. Are normal where that you know you re really given the vandalism and then dictate it you know how things should be before it s too easy to ignore people s front. The only person could go would be down in the town in an investment so someone might say Nixon has a sport where the hard to pull United manager Craig dignities he s looking forward to concentrating on his side s matches in League 2 who s a bit more know by Sunderland under 20 three s last night in the a.f.l. Trophy and now can t make it through to the next round Meanwhile Middlesbrough under 23 as head coach Paul Jenkins felt his side struggled with Cambridge s direct approach during their 21 defeat at the Abbey stadium and Matthew Alston on goal in the 2nd half means but he will also go out at the group stage and the World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury could lose his boxing license after admitting he has taken cocaine is more sport in half an hour but now you know whether with Paul Mooney mostly dry tonight with laws event itself that s 465 and mostly dry day tomorrow but more clouds into the afternoon highs of 14 Celsius that s 57008. 5 past 5 Wednesday afternoon on b.b.c. Michael with you till 6 o clock and then we ve been having some accidents all this afternoon I met tell you a little one on the part where one on the end I m saying it s Ashoka the part where the 174 it s the outside lane is blocked $300.00 yards prior to the a 19 due to an exit involving a lorry the a 19 itself northbound just after the park where you ll find them actually involving 4 vehicles taking out the a 19 causing huge right the way back on the 17 for not just affecting traffic on the a 90 northbound or the 17 forwards well back into Ward s Ingleby Bollinger not phone there the a 66 to middle Haven towards cargo fleet the accidents now clear all lanes of reopened but still very slow you ll find it slow as well as you heading from Port Clarence down towards the end 19 portrait and the one I want to catch a partially blocked you to an x. And oh by the b. Road the b. 691 anything else we d appreciate you call on the Travel line 301230181. My b.b.c. t. Yes when cities I will keep an eye on all of those accidents that have been happening this afternoon with Dave every 15 minutes between now and 6 but will also keep an eye on the weather as well Paul Mooney along in 40 minutes to tell us all about that as well as those things so got plenty of the day s news for you ll be hearing how Teesside historic Estan hills of once again being blighted by vandalism it s probably the most worst joyriding hot spot in the whole Cleveland area really we ll be hearing from the community group abandoning some of their plans for the area as a result Also coming up in the next hour of the sky like getting over the wall and running for the hills before I m finally free but drag me back so yes I will continue to be considerably that until we complete this process he s back again his knee Nigel for his words after Ukip sleeted Diane James who was elected just 18 days ago resigned We ll have the latest on that story in sports Hartlepool United manager Craig Ignat says he s looking forward to concentrating on the sides League 2 fixtures pools will go out of the a.f.l. Trophy at the Group Stage Stop following their one nil defeat to Sunderland under $23.00 set Victoria Park last night and the next one s going to west because the dead robot will be forced to play players who have probably played 5 games in 2 weeks for a nothing game so that s going to be fun and games are not comes about before now and forget all about this trophy and get on with the important bit which is the league and also in this hour I m on that m.t.s. He s going to. See that I ve got to be good at it not a not a good guy have a good grief University have got national attention I m not surprised after Radio one caught hold of the new students union so will speak to somebody from the students union he can explain himself about that. Might be the seeds. That s also come between now and 6 o clock just commit to 9 minutes past 5 let s pick up on a story we were hearing about in the news because police and the fire brigade been investigating a suspected arson attack on a counselors car in Middlesborough Middlesborough Council says no one was hurt but the vehicle belonging to a counsellor who it hasn t named is thought to have been destroyed late yesterday evening Well joining me in the studio this afternoon is independent counsel Middlesborough counsel John rattle John could afternoon again Good afternoon Mike now you ve been a victim of this suddenly your car was attacked in Fabrice a tell us what happened in your case yes it was then instant where a vehicle pulled up I actually saw from a window but they were wearing black. And they pop a pod petrol over it and ignited the vehicle it s typical of our intern cowardly attack really Now we don t know the specific circumstances here but there was a want is accidental to looks like well how to say carelessness you must be you know worried if not disgusted that counsellors can t seem to be being targeted in this were I am I am very disgusted by it but I m also cautious of them as Steadman way suggested that it s politically motivated because in the case of mine and all of the crimes the police have to investigate it with an open mind and to narrow it down to a particular type of motivation would be reckless in the scenario and how was the incident treated by the police then and it s been. Open minded open to investigation of got to explore all avenues it s with any crime you can t narrow it down to once also one inflammatory remark you know how about only assuming they ve not caught anybody for it in connection with the inquiries are ongoing they have had to release one person off. Place bets for the mean time until they can to dictate their forensics is the council taking this seriously bearing in mind the councillors that are being affected by this sort of well in my scenario I felt very isolated as there was no comment from the map but it s good to see that their boards actually referred to the matter and he s now taking can claim seriously he s even referred to bullying and harassment which is good because Council a lot and has submitted several over the past few months so hopefully now there will be taken seriously and the interim chief executive was promoted despite a cloud of allegations of bullying and harassment so I m hoping the having confidence within the town hall will then mean that it s isolated one issue and what do you think this is happening then because I mean you described there s some sort of unpleasantness amongst councils but one hardly imagines it s councils doing this to each of the so why do you think you know something I don t I honestly believe. It s members of the public who perhaps can t express themselves academically becoming enraged by certain issues and wanting answers and obviously as you re aware with the recent asset to get stall where people have been seeking answers from the mayor and deputy mayor but the been unwilling to come forward perhaps they will now come forward and have a public meeting to reassure the members of the public you know to be facts them obviously they re not here to comment so obviously we re just talking about your opinion still what do you think should happen next then to stop this if indeed anything can be done fortunately nothing can be done but anybody who has witnessed anything call has any information and they re encouraged to contact the police in confidence I know in my situation the police were contacted through various offices and by various people and they have been tracked with full confidentiality and in confidence and I. I hope that that reassures people to do the same Yeah let s hope these are just one off incidents than our should set the end of this Cleveland fire brigade spokesman said said to us that acts of arson have a massive impact on our community these unnecessary fires not only cause damage to property and the environment but also put lives at risk all incidents are fully investigated in partnership with Cleveland police which includes the monitoring of c.c.t.v. Footage and where arsonists are identified they will be prosecuted so let s hope that whoever did this and indeed did the damage to John s car here as well is caught and that this sort of thing is nipped in the bud. On digital on exam on the b.b.c. . 13 minutes past 5 troubling story then we ve been featuring another troubling story this evening relates to one of the most beautiful parts of our neck of the woods I m talking about the historic Estan hills where you expect to find panoramic this Toure s and lovely countryside and all of that you don t expect to find burnt out cars broken barriers endless rubbish but that is a snapshot of the scene on Estan hills at the moment in fact now that vandalism has meant that a 3 year project to showcase Esther now won t be going ahead the community group Friends of western hills had planned to create a memorial on top of the site but due to the damage that s being caused that s had to be abandoned Well our reporter Louise Hobson s been to the site to see for herself what s been happening this was drunk last night I was a yes I mean it wasn t here and looks like. Illness it is. Not looks like in there to spread the trade pointing is an environmental campaign and you re right it s beautiful pink will be on your life and long before all this started happening you know it s probably it s probably the most the worst joyride. Being hot spot in the whole Cleveland area really the place of a hell of a time content and into one of the results as to adequately place the area that s a fact you know Osmond is one of the council up and say. There s been one over there this flight have been here there s a pile of us bestest there and I to Google Maps and pinpoint them all so they know exactly where it is you know it s like every week something goes on something bad happens it s very very. Disappointing like Sadly this is a bit of an impact on. The Morial for the I mean well the idea was to try to promote the idea of buying more of the site and Ridge and saw the profile of Este and hills and came up with ambitious plans to install a memorial to the mine is were killed beneath this was the world s biggest dime store mine right and it made middle of the world capital of I in Macon back in Victorian Britain so really this is a you know there s a case for world heritage did us now to get something like that would mean Griff grit funding you know to really do the site justice and and promote it like it should be and have it cared for looked after and managed you know nearly 400 men were killed many things hills you know. And a memorial to the arts and the legacy people nor the so I go up there the don t I think about the land beneath the feet so much both it s just too much of a gamble let s face it after the way this. Joy ride in and just goes on and on and it s just relentless. If you google it be bankrupt it seems to start a path you find on its roof. And a couple of others. Just car I m for 15 minutes. Of the hell. Is another piece of the vandalism So this is. This is a Jeep Cherokee that was. Smashed into these barriers that the farmer put in the new. Probably still bollards and quite a job on his part Oh goodness it s all it s turned upside down yeah they re actually reversed to the vehicle into the bollards at high speed so if someone appended When did this and this car was pretty much vertical leaning against the steel pipes for a while and then it was set on fire and then it s being tipped over someone you know and now look at it I mean look at the mess these blowers are put in it only just finished it and then the you know they re all to hell you know. Her interest. Terrible isn t it Craig home without talking to our reporter Louise Hobson And if you want to see what that looks like as well as hearing about it well you can see a video of some of the effects of that vandalism you can see it on the b.b.c. T.V. s Facebook page right now that s Facebook dot com forward slash b.b.c. t S b b c t s 17 minutes past 5 Wednesday afternoon scooping a big grill of us an outside I ll tell you the what the weather s got in store in a moment 1st let s get the latest news headlines from Graham Pickering police and the fire brigade are investigating a suspected arson attack on a council as car in Middlesborough the former partner of East Enders actress Scion blags been given a whole life sentence for murdering her and their 2 children by the Knicks and has the sports where the hard to put United manager Craig king then says he s looking forward to concentrating on his side s fixtures in League 2 following their defeat in the a.f.l. Teas because you know we re going to stick with schools actually because Scarboro and Whitby as being given a share of 60000000 pounds from the government to help young people get more from their education just seen greening the education secretary said announce the funding scheme aimed at social mobility cold spots as the cold with the hope that it all unlock people s potential Well the hope is that it will help her kids on the North Yorkshire coast get into science and engineering as an alternative to obvious choices like to resume or conservative Derek past a man is the leader of scarper borough council I caught up with him earlier this afternoon I asked him what exactly are the challenges that are being faced by youngsters in Scarborough and Whitby Well the good mentalities that we have other lack of competent trained it I mean higher and further education in the past and with the bent of the published man coming on the up show when Didn t history there s going to be tremendous requests for skilled and you nearing workers which we haven t had that Priscilla to be a car so the news that s been announced will allow us to deliver Of course of her people and is there a difficulty with encouraging kids to get into things like science and engineering then because of what you ve just described there is a difficult and I don t wish to knock our head in any shape but I think that there s been traditionally not the desire may be prim some of the schools to encourage the youngsters to go down that avenue you know I think it s about 5050 really never the Young says something of the aspirations of them being aware of the opportunities to arise in on the doorstep so I think you know in our thing. 5050 doesn t bring the awareness So 60000000 pounds on the table you re going to get a share of that what are you planning to do with the money we will work with county nothing else on the council is that the responsible education provided but we ve been working very closely with them in the past and that help us deliver University Technical College which we then went to the private sector to deliver that as well as also come to university of on the campus in Scarborough and their operating engineering cost is the u.t.c. So all in all we have started to create opportunities for the young people in the borough talking about those developments in scholar including that university technical college that you ve mentioned will developments like that help young people in places like b. Instead says Well oh yes you know my mantra is being that you know we would take any any young people from a stand off to want to come and south and west this is a girl an opportunity to give give the young generation a once in a lifetime. And highlight the opportunities that are the problem you know because the opportunities are tremendous both in the Intrepid skills village on one of the largest building sites in the not being ruined and not going to be extended an open later this month as well so you know we re really working solid to getting young people into apprenticeships and make sure the trend in this problem you ve also mentioned those developments the or potash project near would be the Dhaka bank wind farm as well a projects like that instrumental in encouraging youngsters in the area to show that they can have a career in engineering without having to move away necessarily We believe the theme park in fact that because people enjoy living in the. Sky part of God s own county anywhere and where else would you want to live and if you can live and learn and work. And spend your money in the same place why would you ever want to go and it was spot on spot so I couldn t put it better myself God s own country North Yorkshire cost conservative Derek basta and that lead to Scarborough Council talking about that government money of share of which is heading to help young people in the Scarborough whippy area get more from their education that s all it s got to be a good thing. 23 minutes past 5 hopefully no more accidents but presumably the aftermath of the ones we ve had still cause enough to be going on with my a 19 northbound north of the park where you ve got a partial blockage due to an accident involving 4 vehicles very heavy and very very slow traffic all the way back into wards Ingleby Barwick westbound solid bank past the handling as well one lane on the parkway not helping things west of the handling turn up towards the a 19 the next involving a lorry and still busy on the 66 east of the middle of an interchange as you get across towards cargo fleet following an earlier accident and you ve got the a one a one through catch of a partially blocked as well following a collision over by the b road the b 6 to 91 and everything else is good if you do spot anything you call audible 30123011 that s John Foster back to tomorrow morning on b.b.c. Ts from 9 o clock picking up on a story we were featuring in the 1st hour of the programme of course the story of an Darwin in 2002 and Darwin from Seton crew helped her husband fake his own death she s told the b.b.c. The mini b.b.c. t. Rice you re going to love this or rather not a lot as Paul Daniels might say Teesside to university have got national attention not necessarily in a good way after Richie Awad Courtauld of the new students union song it s a parody of science song cheap thrills and there s a video to boot it s a whole to introduce the new student vice president and the services available Have a listen to this I m not going to. See that. You can hear. Me. Say entry. You. See this is. Do you see. How to I don t know how was the vice president of education at Teesside university students you do not have to do that I m going to me who on earth side deal was this. Some combination of the 4 that I marked and you know we we always do a video. The 1st time and so on but we want to do something a bit different now it s fair to say you re probably going to get more attention with that than you would have done if it had sounded well I was to say a little bit more polished you got a solo in the song tell us a bit about that. Yeah I do. Just kind of. I know I can sing but I don t mind just kind of students and all kind of want to do my role and. So on to do I should imagine it was how on earth did it end up on Radio one and well. Left for a university student union namely. The song like I was. Told between Scott Mills and Chris stock and played it for us today brilliant then there was a love a laugh as well now what is there a message behind the video then yeah it s still highlighted the same shit that we have here with the student union no more that we re more than just a power that we do have academic services and sports and society as well as kind of let students know who we are as offices and what we do and what he had and he is a student clearly a way of getting the attention of the students at Teesside I m pretty sure you add in that you ve achieved that goal of course next year you could have to up the stakes a bit. Well that s for next year the team to look into how she will do a cutting job you ve set a very high bar for them so much I think. What s the reaction been like then from fellow students generally I think generally being good most of them to me you know I mean it s funny and I like what we ve done with it and. Surprised that you got all this attention. I think with a song like. No surprise that it has attracted attention so what s next the x. Factor perhaps. Maybe not just yet. I think I can see a future for you they re going to real future for you Adam it s a great but if I tell you it has really made us laugh here in the B.B.C. s newsroom this afternoon so please keep up the good work we will cheers That s Adam how they re the vice president of education at Teesside university students union and that is a fantastic type of thing you can find out if you go on the student union Well on the t. Side university website and if the student you have pretty sure your file or just put it in the nets in the web somewhere you will find it we ll see if we can get it on our system. Partial blockage like you said at the a 90 north of the roundabout. On the parkway extension right the way back into was going to get westbound traffic absolutely solid back towards the Martin not helped of course by the fact he got another accident on the 174 by about 300 yards pride of the a 19 in the outside lane taking out one lane there as a little bit on the busy side on the 66 as to middle heavens who was cargo fleet all lanes have now reopened as a busy one leaving. And then I ll be forced to play players who have probably played 5 games in 2 weeks for nothing so that s going to . Forget all about this and get on with the important bit which is the league Meanwhile the middle 23 said Coach Paul Jenkins felt his side struggled Cambridge direct approach during their 21 defeat at the Abbey stadium in goal in the 2nd half on goal rather in the 2nd half when the bar will also go out of the competition at the group stage. Alternately looked like that tonight. There were physical. Expect not what we expect. To understand how to play against this because this is a real world issues you know it s not the Premier League you know for the small percentage of the Premier League. Going to be different kind of. This is a reality for some of our players and a challenge for all places you know where do you see yourself could you cope with this kind of challenge it was put out there tonight although they didn t prove that elsewhere the England defender John Stone says having a player like when Rooney in the squad is vital the England captain was criticized for his performances during Euro 2016 and last month s World Cup qualifier against Slovakia but Stone says Rooney is a key figure in the squad definitely he has been over the years and every player goes through the open down patches ways always fully focused when he comes here and play as is everyone in my eyes well England take on Malta in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Saturday the Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has been charged with breaking rules relating to gambling on football matches the 34 year old is accused by the Scottish Football Association of placing 44 bets between the 1st of July and 15th of September this year will Barton is due to return from a 3 week club ban on Monday following an internal dispute and he has until the 12th of October to respond to the charge with a hearing date set for the 27th of October there are a few non-league fixtures this evening in the Northern League Division one gives birth take on Washington and its North Shields versus Penrith and in Division 2 it s actuating versus Team North Korea have been taken Darlington are stuck in town face below him Sinfonia and Wellington take on Bedlington to cricket and the Durban England all around the bend stalks has told the b.b.c. If you re talking about it we re talking about. Developments in the u.k. To come very shortly but let s find out what s on b.b.c. Cheese breakfast tomorrow morning with Neil and Amy Amy can tell us. We ll be talking to one mom whose child has Down s and some b b c t s break says we need an Amy from 638. Back with you tomorrow morning half 6 John Cain wakes you up at 5 o clock writes Let s talk some politics shall we we ll talk you Kip this time because you keep is in chaos again today after Di and James elected as its leader just 18 days ago has resigned she says there are several reasons including the feeling that she didn t have the support of some senior colleagues councilor Richard Elvin a secretary of Housing and Sunderland Southie gave his reaction to Diane James resignation I was only surprised because I am now for about 3 years and. She she never really. Expects any interest in wanting to take the mantle of being leader so you know it is a pretty demanding task so. I m not understand surprise you know obviously there s a disappointed she obviously was persuaded she should start you know a lot of people obviously take it but I said. Friends confidence you know obviously encouraged to stand and she stood but when she she was elected she oversees feels that it s not. Richard elven who wants to himself or you keep a Middlesborough also believes that whoever becomes you keeps new leader will have to develop their own style and leadership in the aftermath of such a dominant reign that of Nigel Farage. Nigel is an incredibly charismatic person sees been the face of. For many years. But it was inevitable some time he d obviously step aside and make way and it s the same with any leader. When there s a change of leadership that person and stamp their authority. Be their own person and have their own brand. See that with the Consider choose now it s completely different party too and that David Cameron was leading it so it was inevitable that you know whoever becomes the leader will say you have to. It develop their style and you know their own sense of direction but not so fast because Nigel for our Sudan James was meant to replace claims he s still in charge of the party until another leader is elected I keep trying to escape I keep getting over the wall and running for the hills before I m finally free but you drag me back so yes I will continue to be considerably that until we complete this process now it does insist he won t be standing to do the job again on a full time basis and you keep chairman Paul Oakton is grateful to him nonetheless for stepping back into the breach what he s offering is our party some stability and some knowledge during what s going to be a 6 or 7 week period during which we will elect the new leader that new leader will not be Nigel Farage but he certainly going to be here helping as he always has in the interim period however not everyone s happy that Nigel for r g is in charge again even in the short term you keeps a leader in the Welsh Assembly a certain Neil Hamilton claims the rules don t allow it the Constitution is quite clear in these circumstances the national committee has the right to appoint an interim leader which I presume it will do at its meeting on the 17th of October you can currently doesn t have a leader will ne Ukip e.p. Jonathan Arnott says he won t stand for the Ukip leadership if the party s former deputy leader Paul not all is on the ballot paper and another you keep m.e.p. Stephen Wolf has indicated he will be a candidate in the party s leadership contest you may recall he wasn t allowed to stand last time because he submitted his nomination papers late and fellow m.e.p. Bill Etheridge who came 3rd last time says he s looking forward to standing again. Couldn t organise. On digital on exam on the b.b.c. . You never know to my get it right next time to quote a well known song it s 6. The minutes to 6 let s just stick with politics for Rex after 3 weeks of speeches debates discussions Thankfully the party conference season has drawn to a close but aside from the politics and the policies what are the freebies can party members take away with them souvenirs Well our political reporter. Was in Birmingham for the conservative conference so before she left she found out what s on offer. The base and serious issues on the agenda here the Conservative Party conference this morning but let s come to the exhibition hall when the activists and journalists I know I think looking for a little something to take home so I ve been wondering can you get free beer in the concept. That we have contradictory things in here which are said with our 500 Yeah and 8 well now I suppose. If the well mailmen using should be very popular and say yes that s all they re a little freebies at the start of the show and you ve got the old stamps with bunker buster and Churchill of the people being getting copies of those what we do is I am proud to tell you the shit we re doing Smilers again me as I haven t received as people can you tell us I met your favorite sound card every take a picture of that and we put that image on the Founders I m so smooth be the most popular because of the Tory pasta has police which was at the minute I think Winston Churchill is winning but we also have the queen she s going to be in that was over that was done for days together so you ve got everything down I can t help noticing your enormous sign that says When I spoke to said I was quite everything s giving away definitely I mean it s. The Spoke seems to be something everyone should have well as a short woman my son identify with the problems of getting well fix it saves I can t put my name on your list. And there are lots of little samples that you ve got here the different kinds of fabrics which these front brakes are proving most popular with the Tories used to. And maybe. Maybe the duct tape to see what kinds of things that people can get for free you probably didn t see and yell we got pens and I can see that little brown just all education doctors was going off to take away and also stuff schools in the Saco slums so just wonder was the stress ball I m more useful for that story activist sale maybe it s the success of me I think because everyone s dressed in a nice thought behind you got a wall about my favorite teachers like which ones delight like the song strangling and politics I literally could not be here without her we would love. To range many young. Concert. Will turn around. Like they were during the day with the $103.00 spent. In the thing that really caught my eye as I was walking past a still with us both 000-0000 My wife and you giving those away we sat in the next night at 10 explained to me. That the building trying to challenge. Every club. To which our. Elbows and tributes rolled out we must make sure they all have at least one chocolate bar every day. Of their loading her little carry a bag full of all the freebies that or not for the political party conferences. B.b.c. T. . 12 minutes to 6 on this Wednesday afternoon let s get Liz s news headlines now from Graham Pickering police and the fire brigade are investigating a suspected arson attack on the council his car in Middlesbrough around a quarter of homes in middle run hardly people have no one who lives there and work according to figures for the Office for National Statistics he makes now as a small. Well the middles been to 23 as head coach Paul Jenkins felt his side struggle with Cambridge s direct approach to a 91 defeat in the a.f.l. Trophy much more on this with Rob Lowe from 6. B.b.c. Tees breakfast with a number of workers households in our area has been falling for the last few years however Middlesbrough and Holly still amongst the top 5 in Britain I think we need to be aware of what these statistics are about include students in the course of the success of Teesside University grows so we have more students stay in the middle schools been interested I completely disagree says I think most students going to City jump when they go to college the rising she we should phase around 75 percent of students on my course had a part time job to keep them going while there was to things I don t think it s a factor on the worker stats after all the b.b.c. T s breakfast with nearly any weekend mornings from 630 now I ve got the perfect Christmas gift for Paul Mooney to tell him about in a minute it s going to set me back a bit Paul I tell you Well it s well prepared as well same 199-6000 pounds there s a better be a good weather forecast that s all I can say but want to watch the. Friday go on you to do your best and I ll see you were a little Christmas guilty though he s been on a lovely day across the b.b.c. Very little clay that time supplanted blue sky plenty of sunshine a fine and this evening and overnight the bit more clay that ended still some clear spells to get shelter if not safe easterly breeze and temperatures will dip into single figures a little round about 8 Celsius which is 46 degrees falling 8 at small really sick another mostly dry it will be some sunshine it is not as much blue skies today but more clouds and the kite might just be thank you for the odd spot of rain later in the day but most places will stay dry at temperatures wee bit cooler than today with more clay than that easterly breeze highs and 14 a 15 Celsius tomorrow afternoon which is a high fifty s fall and I know a great deal changes to fade in that weekend we keep any. Stanley breeze is always going to be on the cool sate but the clouds will come and go we ll have some sunshine by day and it should stay Lapsley dry right I ve got the perfect Christmas gift for you that just about merits this all yes it s the ultimate boys toy the j b 10 jet pack I can just see you doing the weather forecast on look north for use in this you know I know I m not a great dad just fine but one thing I ve always wanted is a chip like well this guy David Memon an Australian Ex commercial pilot so you must know what he s doing. This turbine jet engine powered jet pack and flown it was made to short trips back and lived to tell the tale so far 30 bucks gets flying 30 meters off the ground and he s looking to bring out an electronic version of it commercially next year The only snag if I want to buy you one for Christmas $250000.00 that s 196000 pounds it s sounds a lot when you see it but you know it worth it well that sucks for years to the say I ll get some yet Santa get together Scott s I ll give it some thought if you don t if you don t get it Rob Rob Lowe well. I m still holding out for that Hava ball Don back to the future but I ll hold Yeah that might be a bit closer thing. Right let s round up the afternoon s misery out about on the roads with Dave Llewellyn is it calming down a little bit well sort of a partial blockage of the a 19 northbound Mike after the 174 you got key was only a 19 as a result of this one very heavy and very very slow Actually I m saying that it s not as slow as it was only a 19 northbound zone without some movement on the northbound carriageway there still very heavy on the westbound carriage where the 174 is waiver an accident around 300 yards prior to the a 19 which you still think now the outside lane but I can see the a 90 self looks substantially better northbound. That it was even though you ve still got that accident just just north of the roundabout everything else thankfully coping quite nicely nor major ball for the traffic on the 171 car the Cleveland busy around the trunk road coming down nicely through Darlington not an awful lot through Durham just busy for making heads down towards Nebel s cross and unfortunately still got some other cast up with a partial blockage of the one I want you to annex to put on the junction of the b. Road the b 6291 anything else would appreciate you calling the travel line all the 301238181 keep in Seaside County Durham and North Yorkshire on the move with travel updates every 15 minutes b b c c. I have in the studio with me the look he has to member of the b.b.c. Sports team he was spared a trip to the a.f.l. Trophy games last year old I was indeed yes. We shot is the key word of P.C.T. s but I think so we have a moment s silence for Drury and Madison as his son Kyle and yes it was it was a tough night for all was. Lost to Cambridge poles lost to Sundin s on $23.00 so both teams are out of the competition. I m going to take you a few changes. Trophy if we have to. Turn 6 and 7 also get the views of the journalists as well and we re talking the new signings so you know it s it were a good point in the season now where we ve seen a lot of the new players there s a lot of players brought in for both bar and Poor s over the over the summer so we re asking you Bora fans in Puli fans who have you been impressed with and who need. To do better get in touch more read them out between 6 and 7 who needs to do better thoughts form well look at yesterday you might have your own ideas. With Robb between 6 and 7 this evening. Might be the seeds. Rub along with you in just 5 minutes time before that we did this in the last hour but it was so good to have. I m willing to do an early b.b.c. Repeat on this it s our little fishy story for this evening if you didn t hear this before 5 you love if you do the right before 5 you ll love hearing it again I should start like this should I view the one about the talking fish now it could be the start of a bad joke but actually it s not it s about a genuine story that s been in the news today because a team of scientists have been researching the languages of cod apparently Cod in different cities around the world sounded different it s like they re speaking different languages or perhaps they ve got different regional accents give you an example this is the sound of a chord in the West Atlantica off the coast of Maine. And this is one for of off the coast of Norway in the Northeast Arctic. Sea can spot the difference can t you do sound different but why should we be interested or Professor Steve Simpson s an associate professor in a marine biology and global change that extra university he says that sounds that cold mic could be important for breeding and indeed for the whole future of the fish what you re listening to probably is a male trying to persuade a female to release her eggs so that the point of the cutter spawning a male and female swim towards the surface and the male has to get his songs. Asked right to persuade the female to release her eggs and that song gives a lot of information about what quality He s in weatherizing condition what size he is and say she can then determine whether he s a he s a decent mate before she released her eggs interesting stuff Well today the scientists have been out about recording the sound that could make a liverpool be some Scouse coat that they ve already got some from Scotland in the Southwest what they now want to know is where the cod respond to the sounds made by cod from other parts we re already seeing Cod moving further north and they say could have quite traditional spawning grounds that they would tend to each year so if the water s warm and cold move it starts to re assemble it to mix together different populations in a new way and if this song is very specific that they need to be able to reproduce then it could challenge that opportunity so cold with regional accents that Professor Simpson says it could be that fish many to learn how to impersonate each other to breed in the future now you can t make this up but we thought we would could you imagine what it would be like when a shoal of Southern Fish cross paths with their northern cold counterparts. Might go something like this a story begins in the shallows of the Thames the Cockney code goes a heading north on the poor. Guy kills on somebody get on the dock and back into these no phone calls we need to get and we go and. Meanwhile in the murky depths of the murders a soul. Could. Cause easy it is it a play. You. Should confess he s a bubble see a gay chance I am told. That on the way let s meet them a down stream. You see I m going to go. See a few because he praises them if. They don t know. They do don t do it to do I do they say these no often buy stuff I understand think it was of a gallows Let s get back down to details. To save people wonder. The b.b.c. News room they know yeah now they have an idea don t they. Time well spent all time well spent Thank you Mike there for you on Dr b.b.c. Coming up on the other side of the news plenty to get through so the journey in the e.f.l. Trophy is almost all of both Barra. United your thoughts were fans who were the fans on your side tonight we re joined by the journalists panel to talk all things .
