The president reviewed the memo wednesday, the day after he was picked up on a hot mic telling the Congress Member he was 100 determined to release it. There was never any hesitation by the president. According to the post, the president believes it will help build a case for firing Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein who oversees the russia investigation. Memo appears to be on the verge of being released. The president read it and reviewed it on wednesday. This sets up a huge confrontation with the white house and fbi. The fbi director whom the president appointed said he had grave concerns of the release of the memo. The white house appears to be going ahead with this. The president on thursday gave his final go ahead to his advisers. Now this, of course, is the latest episode in the long running russia investigation. We know the president was calling friends and associates saying he believes the release of the memo will discredit the investigation. It will show in his view bias in the top ranks of the fbi. Democrats are crying foul. They believe it should not be released given a matter of National Security. The fbi and Justice Department believe the same thing. The committee is expected to release that some time today. This is not going to necessarily change anything except the rhetoric around it. I think it is helping to discredit the investigation with the supporters of President Trump. That is the intention of the memo. That is the intention of the discussion of the memo. It has accomplished its job. We dont know if wray will resign. It is not watergate era anymore. Partisan loyalty is strong. People may stay where they are. It is great we have historian here. There is obviously historical implications. We saw james comeys tweet. How unprecedented would it be for the white house to defy its Intelligence Community and own fbi and release a memo . There is always tension with president s and the fbi. Thats historic. They fight over policy. They often have personal disagreements. The way this is happening in the public in front of the american eyes where the president is working with republicans to syst systemically to discredit the operation is unprecedent. That is why some Law Enforcement officials are upset and concerned. The Washington Post has a stunning oped this morning. They talk about the issue of going after institutions like the fbi. I think that is why you are hearing that. It is generally on target. This is a partisan memo. The republicans have coalesced behind the memo. They are pushing with the president s support to release it as if it is some kind of serious oversight. This is a partisan talking point. Although the president has done everything he can to discredit the investigation into russia. His ambassador to the United Nations was tough on russia in the speech yesterday. There is no reason to think the russian interference made a difference between who won and lost in the u. S. Elections.
