CNNW Erin Burnett OutFront September 14, 2016 23:00:00

Borgers special report later tonight almost president thing a fli of defeat. Here on cnn. Im wolf blitzer in the situation room. Erin burnett starts right now. Hillary clinton revealing new medical details. Is she healthy enough to be president . And this on the same day donald trump turns to dr. Oz. And what personal emails. And the billionaire pledging five Million Dollars to vets if trump releases his tax returns. Lets go outfront. Hillary clinton releasing a medical statement. Off the campaign trail for a third day in a row after nearly collapsing. The official diagnosis is mild non contagious bacterial pneumonia. Clintons doctor revealing she examined the candidate multiple times over the past week. Clinton underwent a cat scan two days before this video now seen around the world was captured. The democratic nominee trying to get into her van after leaving that 9 11 memorial event. Donald trump in the meantime also saw the doctor today, taping the dr. Oz television show. Surprising dr. Oz and his studio audience with this. Why not share your medical records . Well i have no really problem in doing it. I have it right here . Should i do it . I dont care. Should i do it . Its two letters. One is the report. And the other is from lennoxville hospital. May i see them . Yeah sure. Donald trump speaking live this hour in a crucial swing state. I want to begin though with Brianna Keilar covering the Clinton Campaign and just within the past hour or so lots of pressure on clinton to release more medical details. Thats right erin because she was not forthcoming about her pneumonia diagnosis. We didnt find out until sunday when you saw that video you just played that se had been diagnosed on friday and shed spent the week prior being more accessible to reporters with this sort of trying to create more of an air of transparency. So she really undercut herself. So her campaign trying to make some aemds there. Putting out some information people were demanding. A couple things we learned that were interesting, one was that she had had symptoms a week prior to her pneumonia diagnosis. So a full nine days before we found out. That she was and then we also learned that back in january she had had sinusitis and an ear infection that got bad enough with fluid in her ear that she had to have a tube inserted into her left ear. That is lead up to the Iowa Caucuses full steam ahead on the campaign trail and she went through that. All of this information coming out brings her to the standard of mitt romney and barack obama in 2012. Not certainly to the standard of john mccain where reh e hn ehe pages of medical records. But she has a lot more out there than donald trump and weve known a lot more about her medical history over the last year than donald trump. A deep vain thrombosis. And the 2012 concussion she suffered after fainting that led to the blood clot between her skull and brain. Dr. Sanjay gupta joins us now. An evaluation of what you learned. We got a much better explanation as brianna said about what happened over the past few days. This pneumonia that was diagnosed by a cat scan as well. This year it is interesting shes had a scan of her brain, her lungs and of her heart as well. She has a history of Heart Disease in her family. And all those looked good. Knowing that her brain scan now looks good was an important point after the concussion. This is not a full release of medical records by biany means but as brianna said this is more than weve seen in the past and certainly more than weve seen from mr. Trump. And on that note, tonight we are learning some new information about Donald Trumps health. Because he gave the results of his recent physical to tvs dr. Oz during a taped interview. Dr. Oz telling nbc news he was actually caught off guard by what trump revealed. He didnt expect donald trump to hand him that sheet of paper with the details. Here is how he put it. I was, you know, surprised. I looked at them and try to process it pretty quickly. And if i was a doctor, if he was my patient are they are good for a man of his age. What did it said. Details from a colonoscopy he had a few years ago. A calcium scan of his heart that was done that looked good. He had results from chest xraies and ekgs and the labott results from last week. Typically not the way we see candidates release that kind of information and the drama really heightened this morning because the Trump Campaign saying no trump is not going to release the results of his physical today on the dr. Oz show and heeneded up doing just that, pulling it out of his pocket and giving it to dr. Oz. This is just a onepage summary of the physical that he had last week. And it has not yet been publicly released. The Trump Campaign says they will get to that tomorrow. They likely will release that tomorrow. But cnn was outside of the show. We talked to many audience members who were inside for the taping and small picture of what Donald Trumps health really looks like. Audience member who says she weighs 236 pounds. He says he does not exercise and that he would like to lose between 15 and 20 pounds and he is on statins, drugs that help lower cholesterol levels. Tomorrow when the Trump Campaign is anticipated to release this medical summary from his position, it should be noted that this still is not one the result of what that physical was like but two not a full disclosure of his medical history and documents that would be more in line with previous president ial nominees. Thank you very much. And out front now, president obamas former doctor. And maggie, just in terms of style today. You get the letter and the list of things from Hillary Clinton today. Donald trump going out on dr. Oz, and ive got it. Here it is. And now even now were not getting the formal results publicly till tomorrow. What have we got . We know what he weighs. That is the new thing we learned. We knew he was on statin before, a form of, from the very unusual letter his doctor wrote a couple of months ago. We also know from that note that the doctor said in that letter that trump had lost 15 pounds over the previous year. I dont know what that means trump weighed before. I dont know what that means now. He did this with his usual style. He wasnt going to relies t. He is going to relies it. That obscures the fact this is still a pretty low level of disclosure for a president ial nominee. And i dont know hoich more were going see when they make the release later this week. And sanjay, in terms of what were going to get, one could presume the things that were discussed in this interview with dr. Oz, cholesterol, statins, Blood Pressure, but we dont know for sure what else. And i talked to dr. Oz a little today as well. And you heard him talk about. Hes a cardio thoracic surgeon so certainly something he was looking for was a heart. And ekgs and the connecticut ct scan of the heart. Those could be important tests to relay any concerns about Heart Disease. When he admits he doesnt exercise and hes overweight. And a statin drug. And that is what you would really want to zero o in on. And doctor, first of all, you are supporting Hillary Clinton. But you have told me on the show that you wanted a full neurological exam. You wanted those results. Obviously were not getting a full medical history here in either case. We certainly dont have that on the neurallogical side. Are you satisfied with what you now have. I was very impressed she got a ct scan. By that alone im very impressed with her doctor. But i think both klds should have what we call neuropsychologic testing. Both candidates. I think she needs neuropsychologic testing just to see theres no neurologic sequelae from her injury. And trump i think needs a neuropsychologic because of his erratic behavior. If somebody came into my office with that kind of the kind of things that he does, i would really be wondering about the personality. I dont know if hes we know hes got a Narcissistic Personality Disorder at the very least. But i sometimes wonder if he would even be hypomanic. But i think psychologic testing would be important for him. Is something i think maybe should be for all candidates. When you say all candidates and obviously there is some speculation if what the doctor was saying there. Going this is going to be the final point of this. Were not going get a deep medical history from either one. Of course not. There is no law that requires any president ial candidate needs to put any records out quite frankly. As far as any kind of mental testing. Last time i think we even saw that was back in mcgovern in 72. And [indiscernible]. What we saw today was a made for tv moment that donald trump created and he did it on a show to try to reach a certain voter, which was women. And as maggie said, it was a game for donald trump. But that is the audience he needs to reach. And that is the audience of that show. It is the audience he needs to reach its interesting because what were seeing is a summary that someone else has put together, usually with input from the campaign of the medical records by someone who may also be a friend or at least have a collegial relationship with the candidate. You have to take all that into account. Part of the reason you ask for the medical records. So you can get dispassionate review. But the point is we dont know even what we dont know. Not to suggest there is something there. We dont know. That is sort of the point. I dont know that we should be making diagnoses, even psychiatric diagnoses from ithe. It was interesting at the end of secretary clintons note the doctor wrote i believe her Mental Health is good. Shes not a psychiatrist. Right. In both cases they are getting letters from doctors who have known them and worked with them for many, many years. Out front focus in. Breaking news. Trump ahead new polls ahead. In ohio a five point lead for trump in florida a three point lead for trump. That is within the margin of error. John king is out front. This is a shift. In the National Polls weve seen incredible tightening and now here in Battle Ground states trump is actually ahead. Why . Lets look closer at the numbers. Lets look at the horse race you mentioned. Trump five points in ohio. The Third Party Candidates are bringing down the winning line, the finish line. Can trump get fifty in ohio . Most think know. But can he get 45, 46 . If that is enough to win hes a play in ohio. Couple weeks ago. Hillary clinton was winning among White College graduates. Look at this. White College Graduates in ohio, trump is winning by nine points and hes swamping her among white non college grads. The white works class. And one other point here inside of ohio. Look at this number, 4442 among women. She needs a gender gap. A big lead among women to off set this. Hes not getting it in ohio. An conservative state. And florida pretty much the same. Florida, this is inside the margin of error. And the gender gap a little better among women here. Beat badly among men there. And again in florida. Donald trump winning among White College graduates. This is a wig deal if this wins. And one other point. These are conservative Battle Ground states. Ohio and florida. The president is under water. T. So two crucial battleground states that have leaned conservative. When you look at the overall math. The path to 270, who has the advantage. Lets change. If you are a democrat, you could say this changes nothing at all. As of today we have Hillary Clinton at 273. That is enough. And even if donald trump won florida and won ohio, we just showed you those. There is even a new poll showing him plus two in nevada. For the sake of argument give him all three. Hillary clinton can win without florida and without ohio. So donald trump has to turn something thats blue here. Maybe a michigan, maybe a pennsylvania. Maybe a virginia. Donald trump cant just win ohio and florida. But that is why i would keep an eye on education numbers and gender numbers. If whats happening here starts to happen here then weve got a race. John king, thank you. And these are crucial trends. For so long the discussion was White College graduates that is not trump land. If you are starting to see that in true crucial states has the momentum shifted . The race has tightened and democrats will certainly tell you the polling is much closer than they would like it to be. I think much closer than what some people thought it was going to be. What they have seen is trump will have a bad week. But then his numbers will take a dip and then they will restore. Republicans are looking for a reason to vote for the republican. Democrats are looking for a reason to vote for the democrat. And then you have gill stein and gary johnson where you are seeing shroffing off of votes towards them. Trump has run a better campaign. Hes run a more disciplined campaign. In the last four weekes hes done a lot better. Its still to be seen if he can overcome some issues about race and others but if he can get to that he could make a shift. Pennsylvania is a source of concern to a lot of democrats. And on that part mark we talk about john was talking about women and talking about college graduate, areas that have been left for dead for trump obviously in florida and ohio. Far from it. Hes leading. Independents. Hes leading ten points in florida. Eight points in ohio. Which is a shift weve seen over the last thirty days. These are the voters who are going to ultimately decide who wins the ebb election. We talked about turnout but both parties have to get the turnout. They have to get the base out. Which is why it was so important for barack obama to hit the campaign trail, specifically if pennsylvania. Very important for him to get out there. Here a big problem for Hillary Clinton. If you look at florida right. Now shes only up six points with voters under 45. And it is basically even in ohio. That is constituency that propelled barack obama to two terms and is part of the coalition Hillary Clinton needs in big numbers in order to win. And what about gary johnson and jill stein . Specifically gary johnson. Nationally 7 . 17 for independent voters are picking gary johnson. There is these are pretty stunning numbers. You have gary johnson and by the way these polls were taking post the aleppo comment. Gary johnson really could matter. Gary johnson did matter in 2012. You saw him this much smaller percentages shave off a couple of points that likely would have been with mitt romney in some cases. The question is whether gary johnson can get onto the debate stage. If he can get on to the first debate stage then it changes the dynamic in way e cant totally see again i think it is very unlikely a is going to become president. I still think this is a two party system. But he could have a huge impact on the race. Also the o mike the point we were going back to. Yes the race is tightened but the democrats have a advantage as john talked about and the debates are going to matter a lot. It is not just enough to have a debate moment. You have to do well overall in the debates. That is what mitt romney learned in 2012. He did very well in the first one and the other two obama came back. The other thing, especially in the context of this Health Discussion is being honest and trust worthy. They throw this as each other. When it comes to transparency on health there is a lot of issues on both sides but shes put out a lot more than he has. Right . Thats just a fact. The reality of it. The perception overall for honest and trustworthy is a much better problem for clinton. Trump is more honest and trustworthy by seven points in florida. 12 in ohio. Its her biggest self inflicted wound. She could be more open about some things. A lot of things and it would not hurt her. However you talk to people close to her and quite frankly we see it every day. Shes so guarded and so protected. And the folks who sushd her really put her in arround her really put her in a cocoon. And for the month of august, very important the go out and raise all that money. She was criticized but she had to pay for tv ads. She could have done a few public appearances and met with the media a few times and that would have washed away. But donald trump hans issue too but for some reason hes not releasing his taxes. His medical records are not going detailed. His business ties over seas are cloudy at west. But it is not even close it is not sticking. It is like a storm that overwhelms because there is so much with him. And one particular thing tends not to stick. Thank you both. And next true feelings revealed. Which president ial candidate does he call greedy. Which one is a pariah. Which would you rather be . And my interview with read hoffman making a 5 million offer to trump tonight. And more on Donald Trumps interview with dr. Oz. Hey, its been crazy with school being back so were constantly going over our data limit. Oh, well, now all of our new plans come with no data overages. Wow, no more overages . So that means. Go on. Say it. Well finally be in control. And were back.
